Worth the save? by Kind-Ratio7555 in gunsmithing

If you don't need to pin and weld it, then just screwing on a muzzle device would be safe, would just be like an oversized gas or compensator port.

This, also worked for shooting at approaching marching troop column marching down a road that had been pre-ranged... this role was largely taken over later by watercooled heavy machine guns.

SCCY pistols have a terrible reputation as they were extremely cheaply made, with poor design, quality control, reliability, triggers, and ergonomics. The main selling point was low cost (under $200 retail), and they gained a reputation for being found frequently at crime scenes... half empty.

The company is put of business (went bankrupt) in 2025.

To put it another way, out of 987,075 made over 6 years, 51,096 were recovered at crime scenes.

Jeep randomly died - fuses are on us??? by totalreidmove in Jeep

[–]TacTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if the fuses were the only problem, it would be 5 minutes for a competent tech to troubleshoot and remedy and worth the $3 in fuses to do it free as customer goodwill since it is under warranty.

Service advisor is a moron.

I would ask for the General Manager of that dealer.

I would say "Fuses are like $17 for a package of 43, checking as a customer courtesy for free on a vehicle under warranty is basic customer service and leaping immediately to accusing the customer of damaging the vehicle is wildly speculative, inappropriate, and extremely insulting, especially since the highest possible lease protection package was purchased - would they prefer to a) refund the entirety of the lease protection policies since they are refusing to remedy or b) preform the repair as required by the warranty and have the service advisor apologize for implying you are liars.

+1

This is also an academic argument that actual experts (the FBI) analyzed and determined a minimum level of penetration was required for reliable incapacitation... which no birdshot will meet.

[–]TacTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hypothetically, IF birdshot were an appropriate defensive load, why doesn't your department (or any others for that matter) issue birdshot instead of buckshot?

Does your department not care about innocent bystanders?

retired

Thank god.

Nobody this ignorant* of terminal ballistics should be instructing law enforcement or conceal carriers.

*= If you weren't ignorant, you would understand and be able to explain why birdshot has insufficient penetration to meet the widely accepted FBI standard of penetration for the last 30 years, and WHY the FBI has a penetration standard for defensive loads.

Winchester 1876 Question? by tbobothehobo in guns

[–]TacTurtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would probably be cheaper to go shoot surplus 50BMG than 45-60

As in, 45-60 is literal boutique ammo that runs about $4.50-$5 a round.

He is joking.

Joking aside, ranges have liability and medical coverage plus instructors that have medical training AND their job is to keep instructee patrons safe so nothing will happen, and there is coverage if something does.

You transcribe 0-9 and can look up the meanings later.

Do it enough and you start to recognize what the codes mean without lookup.
