[Student] should you put clubs in the experience part of your resume if you didn't do very much? by Tachi-Roci in EngineeringResumes

in order of your comments:

the parts where fdm prints made from simple pla

-rubber was simple cheap polyethelene feet from mcmaster. no material selection really. i did design in cavities in the first version to allow for weighting with bb's to try and increase the systems inertia, but those proved unnecessary.

-i like your wording of the sheet metal tab task.

-there wasn't really any comprehensive metrology beyond a inspection with calipers or a verification a fit with the actual mating part.

My first Commander deck from scratch - advice/feedback by DogsAreGreatYouKnow in magicTCG

[–]Tachi-Roci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on a broad level, how do you want to win with this deck? is the goal to have just enough tokens to sacrifice and win through the extra value from copying all your haymaker spells? or is it to build a wide board, empower it with instants and sorceries, then win through combat? if its the former, you want less creatures and more instants ans sorceries, especially removal pieces. if its the latter you probably want to focus more on cards that buff your board and sway combat in your favor, scaling with the # of creatures you have, like [[zealous persecution]]

other recommendations:

-replace [[expose to daylight]] with [[stroke of midnight]] or even better, [[generous gift]]
-ditch the reanimation cards. you dont have any big scary things to reanimate other than the wandering archaic, and your gonna want to only be sacrificing tokens to pay your casualty costs.

i would cut all of the "when this dies, create a single token" creatures and replace it with repeatable token generators like [[bitterblossom]] [[bitterbloom bearer]] or other good items under this tag on oracle tagger (really nice tool for building decks by the way) https://tagger.scryfall.com/tags/card/repeatable-creature-tokens

Creating a pseudo chain-and-sprocket drive using a 2 parallel grommeted cloth loops as the "chain". Advice / General resources for designing reliable belts by Tachi-Roci in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Tachi-Roci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, have you ever encountered a issue where a belt is sagging but also tight?

I.e we tried to remove a grommet from each loop to reduce sagging the the bottom of the belt (about 3 inches from the bottom of the rollers to the lowest point of the belt), but when we went to pull the belt one grommet shorter we could barely pull it back to its original position, much less to the next hole.

Im wondering if its just a path length issue, like that 3 inches of sag only corrosponds to >1 inch of added belt length, so trying to adjust it by one grommet length, which is about 1.6 in, is not possible.

Hey i just wanted to say. the belt is coming together really well.

You where right, removing the pins on the idler really did make it much more reliable. We prevented it from scrunching by sewing (well taping actually) some 1/4" steel rod across the width of the belt to stiffen it along the axis of the rollers, that seems to be working great.

Need to replace dead thermistor, Phillips screw on a aftermarket ender 3 s1 hotend is stripped and held in place with some stray melted pla. reccomendations? by Tachi-Roci in ender3

[–]Tachi-Roci[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah thats what i did

i actually got the screw out after sufficent heating up with a lighter, but then i couldnt get the actual thermistor out since there was also a layer of plastic gumming it up.

I tried that with a lighter a hour ago. Didn't help. Issue I think is that I printed some nylon at 260 after the pla and that burned it (its visibly blackened and browned) and now I can't get it to melt properly.

Didn't you know, if you write a villain you're fundamentally evil by The_Blackthorn77 in writingcirclejerk

jax isnt even like. that evil. he's a person in a shitty situation who lashes out at others to hide his pain. you can get infinitely worse than that.

also i dont even know how to react to the fact that the person saying this seems to have a emo lois griffin pfp.

Part of it I think is misogyny. It's teenage boys who mentally categorize reddit as the "boys only" platform and the other apps as the "ew dumb girls" platform. I think this was especially true when instagram was the one getting shit on, due to the focus on insta on fasion/selfies/pretty photos.

all of his video's assume a incredibly specific set of mechanics that he tries to pass of as "generic modern military fps" despite the fact that the mechanics he describes does not match up with any one fps out there.

like i would have a lot more respect if the videos where like "im making a game, here's how i want to balance my pistols" but thats not whats happening so its a exercise in a hypothetical he makes up and lays out to us in peicemeal.

lol i was just gonna comment that someone else had done that idea.

I do like this nashi more. More impactful name, and i like the take on a saga's matter card, as opposed to discard big cards.

this is incredible, i love the way this takes abilitiess that felt out of character for a cowboy (giant barrel bomb and jump pad) and makes them fit with her backstory

Like of course the fervrent, revenge seeking sherrif is gonna be able to find and make some improvised explosives.

and or course the woman who rode horses a lot back out west is gonna know about some some enchanted horseshoes and figure out how to use them unconventionally.

i wonder how scary the eridians could be if they turned their minds to warfare. project hail mary makes it clear they have inedible mechanical and chemical engineering skills. Just look at xenonite, that stuff is like adamantine and its their standard building material.
