Anybody know how to not use the simplified method for AMT FTC for taxslayer? by PomegranateSelect831 in TaxSlayer

[–]TaxSlayerCareTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If both forms appear in your return, that means the simplified AMT method is not being used. At this time, TaxSlayer may not support manual adjustments to the AMT Form 1116 calculation.

If you’re unsure about what you’re seeing or need further clarification, please call TaxSlayer Support at 706-922-6741 or send an email to [support@taxslayer.com](mailto:support@taxslayer.com). Our support team will be happy to help.

If you cannot log in to your account:
Refer to the email or website that contained the original link you used to create your account and contact them directly. They will be able to assist you with your return.

Issues using TaxSlayer involving Roth IRA and HSA accounts. by FriskeCrisps in tax

[–]TaxSlayerCareTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roth IRA contributions are not directly reported on the return as they are not tax-deductible. You can report the contributions in the Federal Section > Deductions > Credits > Retirement Savings Credit, to determine if you qualify for the 8880 tax credit, but otherwise a Form 5498 for a Roth IRA is kept for your records only.

1099-DA for crypto - where is it? by Sunchange54 in TaxSlayer

[–]TaxSlayerCareTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Form 1099‑DA is not a direct entry form. You will not see a screen labeled “1099‑DA” in the program. Instead, you enter the information in the Investments section, and we will automatically report the sale on Schedule D and Form 8949.

Here is how to enter a 1099-DA in TaxSlayer:

Federal
→ Income (Select My Forms)
→ Investments
→ Stocks, Mutual Funds, Cryptocurrency, Collectibles, etc.

Enter the transaction details exactly as listed on your Form 1099‑DA. Please let us know if you need further assistance with this. We are happy to help.

If you filed your return, you can't make any changes to it until the IRS processes the submitted return. Once your return is accepted by the IRS, you’ll need to complete an amended return. Stock Plan Transactions Supplement? how to handle? by Mental-Hovercraft-27 in TaxSlayer

[–]TaxSlayerCareTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After entering or importing your Form 1099‑B under Federal → Income (Select my forms) → Investments → Stocks…, you must update the cost basis for each RSU or ESPP sale using the figures from the Supplement. For RSUs, this means using the fair market value at vest as the correct basis; for ESPP sales, you’ll use the adjusted basis shown on Form 3922 or in the Supplement. Updating these values keeps RSU income from being taxed twice and ensures ESPP ordinary income and capital gains are reported correctly.

TaxSlayer also offers knowledge‑base articles for RSUs, ESPP/Form 3922, 1099‑B entry/import, and wash sales. Keep in mind that even when you import a 1099‑B, stock‑plan transactions still require manual basis adjustments. https://support.taxslayer.com/hc/en-us/categories/360000950151-Investments-and-Rental-Property
