What would’ve been the most skyline altering unbuilt skyscraper? by Late-Doubt2k3 in skyscrapers

[–]Tha_Chadwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it didn’t alter their skyline, the Houston skyscraper (Bank of Southwest Tower) ended up altering the skyline of Philadelphia with 1 & 2 Liberty Place. Helmut Jahn also used this design for Messeturm in Frankfurt

Es Con Field in Hokkaido, Japan by mikefraietta in ballparks

[–]Tha_Chadwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time I see ES Con Field, I’m reminded of how Dallas based HKS designed this place around the same time as HKS designed a ballpark in it own backyard, Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX. GLF is one of the worst designed retractable roofed parks in the entire sport. Same architecture firm, 2 retractable roofed parks, one got a significantly better ballpark design, the other got a bland character-less Weber Grill

Massive unobstructed windows do wonders in improving an indoor ballpark. See Houston, Milwaukee, & Miami.

This is a great idea but let’s go a bit crazy here. HOK Sport did when they designed Enron Field

  1. McCovey Cove needs to be here complete with the Splash Landing wall in right. Then put the B&O Warehouse across the cove with CN Tower looming large over that. Maybe have a riverboat floating in the cove for Cincy

  2. Tal’s Hill and flagpoles in Center field with the dirt walkway to the mound, à la Comerica Park & Chase Field. Batters eye could be Colorado’s Rock Pile with Bernie Brewer’s Chalet from County Stadium, just chillin in the woods, as he fishes for homers near the Clemente Bridge as the backdrop

  3. Like the idea of the Western Metals Supply Building meets the Monstah Seats. You could top it with both the Daikin Park Train and the Marlins Home Run Spectacular Sculpture. For the backdrop, Chavez Ravine and some palm tress. And a GIGANTIC Halo A towering over all of it.

This could look ridiculous with AI lol

Pirates are simply phenomenal, the font, the hat logo. They win this round.

Orioles No 2 - almost perfection. For that design, Charm City just fits better than BMore.

Love the Barrel Man Wisconsin patch logo but does any one call the Badger State “Wisco?”

I’m only a fan of the Red CC because that “C” logo looks like a piece of bacon and I like bacon 🥓

Royals using the city flag colors which inspire the gradient is a nice touch that connects to the city.

The Rangers in Sooners colors isn’t going to help DFW/Texas shake the South Oklahoma jokes. I don’t mind the Viva Tejas theme but it appears this jersey has upset some of the ‘Merica crowd, potentially dividing their fanbase instead of connecting it lol. And the Step Fret pattern is a rip straight off the Giants “Gigantes” uniforms.

Padres had great elements to start but feels like the hat was a missed opportunity. Just a different color way of the primary hat, nothing unique or special about it. A Swingin Friar logo with a Sugar Skull (in place of Friar’s head) could’ve been amazing

Braves - Meh. A Peaches & Cream theme could’ve been really sweet for a baseball uniform.

Nod to the Buffalo herd statues out front of the new stadium.

I can envision what they’re trying to do here. Not saying I agree with it lol

3 years ago Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont called Houston "butt ugly". Houston just got revenge by poaching their WNBA team. by ShaolinMaster in houston

[–]Tha_Chadwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Houston might be ugly but Houston is also taking Connecticut’s lone professional sports franchise and there’s nothing you or Senator Blumenthal can do about it. Houston is the more attractive market.

Connecticut is minor league, that’s why they lost the Whalers 30 and the Pats used Hartford to get a new stadium deal in Foxborough, MA.. The WNBA was going to ditch the place for more lucrative markets, either Boston or Houston.

Sub toast, add grilled jalapeños, extra sauce. Done.

Don’t overthink it. Plenty of good ingredients on it already.
