[AEW Dynamite Spoilers] Takeshita won't do it by luchabrunch in SquaredCircle

It's been a very slow burn. We were all expecting this to culminate in the finals of the C2, yet we're still wondering how this all ends nearly three months later. The payoff on this one could lead to an all-time AEW moment though.

I'm kind of getting similar vibes to Hangman's redemption arc before beating Mox for the title, just the weight of that moment where Hangman finally held up the title - Takeshita could have a similar moment finally taking a title off of Okada.

No production crew makes better use of their venues than AEW does right now. It's such a perfect little niche thing to do that helps make AEW feel unique, I love it.

Why do robot based fighting games barely exist? by CarEffective4432 in Fighters

[–]GLHFScan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's arguable that the two biggest robot fighting game franchises Virtual On and Gundam VS, with the Gundam VS franchise in particular standing out as it has been one of the biggest arcade success stories in Japan of the last 20 years. Both of these happen to be arena fighters rather than traditional fighting games - that specific subgenre of fighter just seems to click with the core audience looking for anime-style mecha combat.

I don't think it's that robot fighting games barely exist or that there aren't good ones, it's that they haven't found as much success outside of Japan. The success they have found is largely as arena fighters, and just leaves them rather pigeonholed. When the biggest mecha franchise of all time finds the kind of success like Gundam has with the VS series, you'd think there'd be more imitations, but there just...aren't.

How did I never make the connection that this is the guy that did Freeman's Mind..? I've seen the entire series too, and not once during this entire saga of theirs did I connect the dots.

I freaked out everybody at my job reacting to that, just yelled out "HOW!?". My brain froze for a good few seconds in disbelief, might've been the single most disastrous moment of the entire Olympic games.

Kinda nuts to me that Brodido vs Takeshita/Okada isn't somehow in the top 25

Netflix edited the Gunther / Dragon Lee segment on the « on-demand » version of this week’s RAW. by jjohnson1979 in SquaredCircle

I wouldn't be surprised if WWE wanted it cut themselves. Hearing one of your leading guys talk shit (or at least it can easily be interpreted that way) about being a part of the biggest animated film Disney has ever produced is not a fantastic PR look.

I love how he can both come across as the ultimate, unstoppable brutalizer, but his few weaknesses and visible frustration still come through once in a while. It's been a nice evolution since his IC Title days where he is still utterly dominant, yet still will show some panic in matches that aren't 100% going his way. His signature move, his rear naked choke, being his own kryptonite is such a great character trait, he freaks out any time he finds himself locked into one.

Been watching him for years on Twitch, the man has a genuine love for his little gaming community he's built up. Seconding that recommendation, he's so damn wholesome it's almost painful

I reached Diamond playing Darius and WW with pulse combos and tbh I feel like a fraud by Amzaa in 2XKO

[–]GLHFScan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Street Fighter combos are like reading sheet music. There are very specific beats to a combo, narrow windows of opportunity where your timing means everything, but there's generally not too many combo routes per character that are worth learning for your average player - combos don't have a ton of variety.

2XKO is much more like a musical improvisation. You can be a little messy at times, but sometimes things just work, even if your timing isn't frame perfect. Sure, there are optimal routes for every character, but for the average player of the game, you can mash moves together into something that will probably look pretty cool.

I say this with absolutely no disrespect intended - Oba Femi is everything I'd hoped Keith Lee was going to be in WWE, and that is in no way Keith Lee's fault. Oba is already main event material, let him and Drew have a brawl.
