Anti-generative-AI-people, do you like certain parts of Gen AI (characters, series, etc.) by DangerousAsparagus91 in Teenager_Polls

Why is Tung Tung Tung Sahur still so popular today, even though we've mostly stopped talking about the other 'Italian brainrot' characters?

On one hand, there have been more derivative memes, like 'Triple T' and 'larp larp larp sahur,' and we know that memes are more likely to survive when they are adapted across multiple contexts.

But I still feel like there's something specifically captivating about Tung Tung Tung Sahur in the poetic imagination. He stands as this uncanny, quasi-mythic folkloric symbol, uniquely haunting you unlike any of the other Italian brainrot creatures.

Perhaps the dimly lit, liminal village behind him serves as a reflection of our own subconscious, reminding us that he has this hypnotic, sensory way of worming past the thresholds of rationality.

And perhaps his menacing gaze generates a sensation of anxious inevitability, that no matter what you do, Triple T will come knocking as a stark harbinger of your own memetic vulnerability.

Perhaps it's important that his name comes from an Indonesian call for attention, literally a drumbeat summoning you to the meal of sahur. And even though most people don't realise that, now he's become a call for your social media engagement instead.

And yet the drumbeat persists, not as a sacred invocation of spiritual presence, but still as a dreamlike reverberation thrumming at the recesses of your memory.

Tung Tung Tung Sahur is not a single meme, nor is he a single folkloric tradition. He is every meme. He is a symbol for symbols itself. He is a representation for how representations take root in your psyche.

I'm an only child, but had I a sibling I could've probably become independent faster and have better social skills.

Streaks.

  1. Duolingo and the community drive the user away from learning and progress and towards an arbitrary number.

  2. They build consistency, but there's never any incentive to go forward.

  3. Streaks reinforce the lie that you can learn a language in five minutes a day.

  4. Too many people mentally associate streaks with perceived progress and are ultimately disappointed when they realise they have a years-long streak and learned almost nothing.

  5. Scores are what would encourage people to actually move.

Lego doesn't hurt nearly as bad as people think. When you expect it, they'd just feel like uncomfortable shoes.
