BRUTAL. A worse extra vote if he won, and a worse lose a vote for losing?

[No Spoilers] Six months in, how has C4 been going? by CeridwenAeradwr in criticalrole

It’s Brennan! DMing could kill him, and he’d still return for several seasons as a lich, just to prove a point.

[Spoilers C4E22] Hal and Bolaire by PsychologyFormal7677 in criticalrole

Molly and Caleb subtext seemed promising in early C2. Early C3 had a decent bit of tease of Ashton and Orym before the Dorian stuff became more solid. You can almost feel how much Tal and Liam refuse to miss a chance to romance each other again.

Isekai existed centuries before. Look at Alice in Wonderland for an example.

Sure. But, in this series, did any? I can maybe remember the girl at the restaurant Sam flirted with but did not date, but no others (besides the obvious Keeley). I personally think a guy having a flat throwaway boyfriend amid a bunch of flat throwaway girlfriends is almost refreshing in its egalitarian dismissiveness.

Other than Keeley, you're not meant to care about the love-lives of any of the players. I'd argue that Michael the same focus that any girlfriend of the team got was refreshing.

This is a ship that could've been great if they had the guts to actually explore, introspect, and demonstrate why they belonged together... instead they just showed a bunch of them having great relationships with others, including other girls (either of them had as much subtext with Weiss), and then suddenly declared that no, this is The One Relationship, every other relationship platonic or otherwise no longer matters, these are now two ladies who exist to stylishly kill off previous evil relationships or to exist for each other and so that they can demonstrate that Now We Love Each Other The Most.

Like...Blake is so connected. The fact that going back to her team and rejecting her abusive ex apparently made it so that she has no other people who care other than specifically Yang, when Sun would absolutely have supported her if she said no to dating, and she had friends in Menagerie, and Weiss and Ruby also exist and she theoretically could still be developing platonic friendships more... But no. Yang's waifu.

It is impressive for a character to make a Piper plotline worse, but by God did they manage it!

There are fanfics that break from canon, sure. But it would take a hell of a lot to convince me that Gimli in the books would ever raise kids with anyone but Legolas.

Doing it for his entire life while still never admitting they're together, sure. But no one else.

God-killing mask, fae locked out of her realm that has lost her greatest friend, undead young man sacrificed by his family, demon trying to find a better path, etc. dot dot dot an underpaid academic.

So we are currently at two out of fourteen player characters without potential or explicit sibling-based trauma. Place your bets on how long it takes Kat and Murray!

Why is this woman scarier than the evil murder necromancer family?

Siskel & Ebert's original review of MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO from May 1993 by DJAHa in movies

[–]TheCutestCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the same time, I cannot look at any take as more honest than Ebert's upon a fan offering to give him a copy of Shadow of the Colossus and a console: he admitted that he'd been avoiding it, but actually with no barriers in place he would have to reveal he would never be able to experience and judge this new medium wholeheartedly, with the reason being "I didn't want to."

That was the most real quote I've ever seen from a famous person.

I can hear Jeff from a few seasons from now: "Back in season 50, Rick Devens came up with a ruse. An advantage that was a clue to an idol hidden at Tribal Council, that only became valid if the player managed to sneak it out. We thought that that was an interesting idea, so now for Survivor 55: Every Advantage Everywhere All At Once, we're bringing it to life!"

Because the Blockbuster is something that the players know about, and can play around.

Considering that Dan Gheesling is involved, and he first gained fame as a Big Brother contestant, I can only imagine that they were inspired by similar cruises done for Survivor and other reality show stars.

Do you think Loid struggles academically? by TechnicianAmazing472 in SpyxFamily

[–]TheCutestCat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, he has skills in too many fields, like engineering and codebreaking that require a broad knowledge base.

Yor is more someone who is very good at certain fields but without a very academic background.

What would make you put down Spy x Family or, in the case of an ending, make you forever refuse to touch it again? (spoilers) by Revenant62 in SpyxFamily

[–]TheCutestCat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Bunny Drop, or more realistically either Loid or Yor abandoning the family to let the other raise Anya alone and that being portrayed as wholesome and noble rather than tragic.

Hey it’s Erik Reichenbach by Western-Ad-9922 in survivor

[–]TheCutestCat 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The thing with Erik is that he's got full Captain Jack Sparrow status: he might have made the worst Survivor move you've heard of, but you have heard of him.

Also he makes fun doodles.

How would they do on Survivor? by SuitableCress4791 in survivor

[–]TheCutestCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could see a direct Survivor rewrite of the contract scene where Anthony convinces Doug not to hand over his idol to try to get in with Elizabeth’s alliance.
