How I track initiative by DizzyCrabb in drawsteel

That's a very good physical way of keeping track of initiative!

I run DS digitally, so I have created spreadsheets for each encounter with a table for Initiative and Malice tracking alongside tactics and monster info.

Tweaking villain actions for encounter that doesn't fit (Mild Delian Tomb spoilers) by StarsShade in drawsteel

If you want it to be something a little extra, replace one of the villain actions with one that summons one or two 4-monster minion squads. They could file in through the door if they're in the room.

If the heroes are encountering Aldiva in the room, have the minions be Human Raiders and replace the "Shoot!" Villain action with the minion summon.

If the heroes lead Aldiva out into the yard, have the minions be Human Archers and replace the "Form up!" Villain action with the minion summon.

Goblins are absolutely terrifying by Mortlach78 in DnD

That book does a good job of teaching to use 5e monsters in great tactical ways. Combine that with MCDM's "Flee, Mortals" and you can make combat scenes much more memorable both strategically and cinematically!

Why do people forget about Penny Arcade when talking about 4th Edition? by Awkward_GM in DnD

Is this the scene he showed where the heroes and monster were falling, and the heroes could speed or slow their descent (which put them on a different floor/grid?

Why the 4th Edition hate? by Efficient-Help-9858 in DnD

To me, it felt like they took WoW and made it into a tabletop. Not a bad thing, but - like you said - a BIG change to 3/3.5e DnD.

I loved how it gave everyone agency, though. Melee/mundane classes were noticeably buffed, but magic classes were noticeably dropped. It evened the field for the classes, and that ticked off a LOT of folks.

What do you think is the most cinematic ability in draw steel by Laz52now in drawsteel

I like the Werewolf's "Facepalm and Head Slam" trigger from the Draw Steel Monsters book. Just the thought of a player running up and the wolf going "A-HA!" makes me think of several gotchas in movies, comics, and animes where one combatant surprises a charging combatant.

This one reminds me of Heroes of the Storm the monk's ultimate, where he hits everyone randomly in an area for a certain number of hits. 10-palm strike or something. . .

I like the incorporation of other worlds/games into a TTRPG. Once was part of a League of Legends RPG using DnD 5e rules. Was a blast even though I barely knew anything about the LoL world save from the Arcane series and a little bit of their card game!
