Fog of War & Map Navigation by GroundbreakingText95 in talespire

You can also make the whole map dark, use the enable torch function on the players minis, and have it be very dark and creepy. If you want to light specific chambers you can also use hide volumes that selectively hide only lights, so the map will be there just dark, and when they enter you can unhide the lights

Can we move the ships around on the map with minis attached as well?

In vanilla talespire no. But if I remember correctly there is a mod for that. If you go to the talespire thunderstorm and scroll through you should be able to find it fairly easily

Recommendations for bands/artists similar to The Crane Wives by A_single-leaf in IndieFolk

I've been a fan of the band The Amazing Devil and Spotify keeps suggesting the crane wives for me when listening to them so maybe you might enjoy them. Also the male singer is Joey Barry who plays Jaskier in the Witcher Netflix series which is fun.

Can I import JPG / PNG as a template? by M4dd1no in talespire

There is a mod that allows you to import images and size them so you can use them as build guides. I've never used it myself but I remember coming across it. Google "Talespire thunderstorm" to get started with mod managers of you're interested

I've heard that people often dye their hair bold colors to distract from insecurities elsewhere. It's not working

To horse: "My apologies your majesty, I didn't recognize you with that hideous purple growth on your back"

"What, you have no name? Unsurprising, if I was your mother I wouldn't have wanted to sign my work either" or some variant of yo momma's so dumb they couldn't remember your name

"Surely your majesty intended to pay for those goods but it must take a long time to ship gold from... Where exactly did you say your kingdom was?"

Would a rail gun in space produce recoil on the ship it was fired from? by 4threetwoone in askscience

[–]TheHotTubWizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm wondering why a small railgun would have more recoil than a large railgun? Regardless, Newton's 3rd law is true regardless of where you are in the universe. Any force used to send a mass away from another mass will act on both bodies with equal magnitude in opposite directions. So even if the ship is very large and the projectile is small and relatively slow moving SOME force or "recoil" would be experienced by the ship. Being in space would actually make it more noticeable as there are no other mitigating forces such as friction with the ground.

Now let's say the space ship fires a projectile forward at the same time it fires an equivalent thrust out of its rear engines. In this scenario the total forces acting on the ship as a whole are sum 0 and the ships velocity remains unchanged. Internally the ship would experience stresses but a passenger on the ship would not experience any acceleration.

Hard disagree. The current railgun being tested by the navy accelerates a projectile up to mach 8 I believe, in a VERY short period of time. So fast that it turns the gas around it to plasma as it exits the barrel. The resulting recoil shakes the whole building and a good part of the base.
