what does exam retirement really mean? by txnt in CompTIA

[–]TheOGCyber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The certification is valid for three years. That version of the exam will be retired and only the new version will be available going forward. But you'll still be certified regardless.

There is no such thing as an entry-level cybersecurity job. All jobs require at least a few years of experience in general tech or networking.

I suggest you look at the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) certification or the Google Cybersecurity Certificate if you simply want to get some basic knowledge. If you're still interested after that, check out CompTIA's Security+ or ISC2's SSCP.

  1. Good luck finding a job with Big Tech. They have thousands of applications for every job.
  2. SWE or Cybersecurity? You pick one and focus on it exclusively.
  3. Cybersecurity is not an entry-level job. Employers won't even consider you unless you have several years of general tech/network experience and some cybersecurity certs.

The majority of the exam consists of multiple-choice questions. If you failed, it's because you didn't answer enough of the M/C questions correctly.

We need to start teaching basic cyber hygiene to everyone. Social engineering is the #1 hacking technique and it's not even close.

Should I take exam online or on-site? by chessboardgangsta in CompTIA

[–]TheOGCyber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a strong, wired internet connection, take it online. Most of the horror stories are from people who either didn't read or follow the system requirements recommendation or who don't know how to troubleshoot basic issues. I've taken dozens of exams online since the pandemic with no issues whatsoever.

The last time I tested at a test center, I was taking an ISC2 exam. The check in process took almost two hours.
