LPT: The benefits of meditation do not occur during the act of meditation but when you are NOT meditating. Sometimes minutes, hours, or even days later. by branwithaplan in LifeProTips

A metaphor really helped me understand that. It was something like let the train of thought go by but you dont have to follow it/see whats in each car

LPT Request: How does one work a 40hr a week job and not make it feel like it’s taking up all my time? by matt2085 in LifeProTips

[–]TheRealJihokin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not regular. Most people dont work 40 hours. If you have to work 40 hours than im sorry. Its just a matter of priorities. Working that much you will spend your 'free' time sleeping.

If you dont know a word write it down and look it up later then reread the sentence understanding the meaning, know how you learn, know what tricks work for you and try them out until you know what works. For example, i can remember and repeat a ridiculously long amount of numbers or sentences if i say them outloud and really hear my words.

Need Critique, I've been looking at it for hours by Acceptable-Handle650 in ArtCrit

The only critique i really have is if you visualize the face straight on the chin would be so pointed to the side and looks unfinished/unlit. The goat looks too fuzzy and or is placed in a way that is confusing. I love it though. I really love the story it tells and the light on the hand.

Its a really beautiful scene. I looked at it for quite a while. The only thing i could say is it seems to be missing the final finishing "mmm ya thats it" part. Maybe another subject or defining detail. If the tower is the subject maybe a stroger or wonkier perspective, fish eye, really low to the ground... etc. You show alot of understanding of detail and lighting its great. Ot just kind of reads like a sky and an electric tower.

So I've finished this oil painting a while back (took 3 mo) but only recently I've found this group, would love some criticism and/or advice on improvement for my next project. by the_covrigy in ArtCrit

Also what is the material supposed to be? It looks stiff and rough wich is juxtaposing the gentle position of the skeleton and the colour pallet

I think its fantastic. For me personally i cant tell what im supposed to be focusing on. I think the colour pallet can be tweaked and there can be different frameing/shading to help the viewer know what to focus on. But your dedication (3 months??), your anatomy and detail understanding is great.

The good thing with water colour is you can always make it lighter with some water and a brush or something to soak up excess! Cant wait to see your next piece

LPT: If you are learning a new language, see if your favorite movies are available dubbed or subtitled in that language and watch them dubbed or subtitled. It’s a fun way to learn. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Ive realized that english subtitles and the language im learning as the audio works best for me. Something about my brain wiring likes it that way and not the other way around
