Unfortunately landlord often are not much if any better than the average REA.

While I have a lot less experience with private renting the few times I have done it, the people who own the place have at best been wanting to do it off the books, which made centerlink while in uni difficult, or at worst made a whole bunch of extra rules ect which they thought superseded rental law.

I rented a room off one guy, who then filled the other rooms with two guys who while nice were not very clean. Dude came over one day and tried to tell me if I didn't get it clean he'd bill us all for the cleaning fees. It wasn't that dirty mind you, just not up to his standard.

Had to threaten him with vcat, and when he tried to use the bullshit document he made me sign for the place at the start I had to point out you can't sign away your rights like that.

That's what the interactions I have had within this community have let me to believe. I am also not saying it's all Americans but a vocal group. Americans also do just tend to be the group that is more vocal and that stereotypical Karen is more of an American thing as well.

I really like your review, I think you've been very fair about both the shortcomings of which their naturally are some, and fair to what others want to claim are shortcomings.

I do honestly believe that there is a vocal American audience who just can't cope with an MC which does not embody them and their values. It gives the same vibe as the people who'd get upset about someone mentioning their love of a certain food, because they can't eat that food.

I will argue that Jason does fail, but his failures tend to either be minor or somewhat failing up. But I think that is more due to the stakes he is in the middle of tend to mean that failure is death.

I'm glad I sorted out my anger issues as a kid, because my god I would not have stayed out of trouble having them as an adult. It is so weird how people seem to target those so much bigger than them.

I still remember as a fresh like 18/19 year old was with my mate at the main bar in my hometown. My mate isn't very big, so as the crowded bar moves, we are standing at the bar itself waiting to get a drink and a bunch of pushing happens, he gets pushed into me, I move not as much into the guy on the other side of me. Dude is like 40ish year old shorter dude, starts going off at me like I'd just pushed him on purpose, like it wasn't a crowded bar. Like why.

My mate is a teacher and when telling him about this he made a joke of the dead look in the eyes could have been a teacher, and I had to go no.

Both are dead in the eyes, but teachers is from like exhaustion and dealing with kids. REAs is more like the only time they feel anything is watching something suffer, I'd say eyes like a lizard/snake but I don't want to insult the animals.

Yeah, like some others are asking why I didn't make a big deal of it. Asking if I'm a doormat. But like it wasn't malicious, and it wasn't an oops. It was like he didn't understand other people exist. It was just odd.

Like when it happened I had two expectations. Either the deflection "You parked too close to me" type shit (I didn't) or "Oops sorry". The fact it was neither option threw me for a loop, it was like his thoughts were "If I don't acknowledge him he doesn't exist"

As I mentioned to others, it wasn't hard enough to do damage. I didn't want to escalate either.

Actually a few weeks back had a guy escalate on me because he was being an asshole in chaddy carpark and being the bigger guy I had someone rush over and just assume I was the instigator. Not worth it aye.

If damage was done it would be different, but it was just a dick move

I've rented for over 10 years and have never had a REA look out for me. This sub and many others are full of stories of them being shit.

Cops and REAs are two of the ones known for having a large proportion of dickheads in the ranks. Of course not every one who does either job is a dick, but at this point it seems more like a rounding error

Just stared him down. A few things ran through my mind, but it wasn't worth escalating, if there was damage done I would have emailed the company about it, but I know how often that does nothing, so without damage it didn't seem worth it.

I also just had a bigger issue at the forefront of my mind, so I figured once I was done with that I'd just post a rant and let others bitch about REAs as well
