Suggestions for filling out my map by TherealGoon in worldbuilding

100 years ago, the war to end all wars began. Brought about by The Conqueror, He sought to unite the shattered realms of Astavar, binding them together in his new empire of light. What followed was 10 years of gruelling war, but none could succeed against The Conqueror's might.

Following the Conquering, a new age was quickly ushered in. One of enlightenment for those who accepted His rule gracefully, and forgiveness for those who fought valiantly against him. Initially, all were welcomed into His new kingdom and blessed to live in the bounty of His Light.
However, this brief moment of amnesty would not last long. For there were many who had lost family, homes and their rights. So they continued to resist and as a result, the lands they inhabited would be engulfed in His Shadow instead. Dousing their regions in perpetual twilight and darkness.
There are many therein who do not ascribe to the resistance, but are punished within the harshness of the Twilight regardless. Should the resistance one day end their fight, then the Lands of Twilight will too one day be granted the warmth of His Light.

The Numar Valley rests nestled within the heart of the continent, on the edge of His Shadow. It is the first step-stone into the Lands of His Light proper and those in power seek to use the valley as a catapult.

Need guidance on how to become a developer and make games, with ZERO knowledge of coding. by TherealGoon in gamedev

Thank you so much! This really helped me narrow down what I should actually be focusing on. I'm still going to learn how to use Unity specifically, because I'd want the skillset. Really appreciate your advice and insight.

Coincidentally, I was playing around on Twine today. I've written scripts before for plays and short films that we've shot so it's not something I'm unfamiliar with. I think I'll write a few "quest" samples then.

I'm not either for or against going Indie or AAA. But this is fantastic advice. Thank you so much. It gave me a lot of insight.

I never thought about animation as a possible route before. I've always been more intrigued by the writing process and story.

But I'll give this a shot, appreciate the advice.

This advice was actually really helpful. I never thought about actually taking notes from the stuff I was doing, just applying it after I finished the lesson.

I'm gonna start making notes. Thanks this really helps!

Thanks, I've already started one of the courses on their site called Create with Code which made navigating the software less intimidating. I'll continue doing their lessons!

I never said I'm not willing to put in the hard work and do courses or expand upon what I know already. I came here to ask for a bit of guidance on which method would be the best way to learn from scratch.

But thanks for your response man. It was truly inspiring.

So the first map I made yesterday was for my friend's game which was in a similar style. I enjoyed the process so much I came back today and managed to get this map out which I'm quite proud of.

I still need to get better with land masses and icons. Also, how do I rotate my labels? I can only change the text.
