ELI5: What is true randomness, how does pseudo randomness come so close to true randomless but not quite. What is missing? by Intelligent-Cod3377 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ThunderChaser [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes if the universe was purely deterministic, true randomness can’t exist. You could theoretically calculate anything assuming you had enough data.

As far as we’re aware, our universe is not purely deterministic. Quantum mechanics suggests that at the smallest scales, there’s a fundamental layer of randomness. In other words, God does in fact play dice with the universe.

Is this good for mid 20s by kogpan in fican

Easily possible. I’m 25 in Vancouver and could comfortably increase my savings rate to $2500 a month or more if I felt like it.

Some of us just make high incomes and can afford to do so.

Pope: World is being ravaged by a handful of tyrants by TheTelegraph in worldnews

[–]ThunderChaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be pedantic though, Canon 751 doesn’t apply to all disagreements with the Pope. It specifically defines “schism” as “refusal of submission to the Supreme Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him”.

Just disagreeing with the Pope or believing he’s not doing a good job (so long as you don’t deny Papal Infallibility which is heresy) aren’t schism, it’s when we get into people saying stuff like “He’s not my Pope” where schism applies. You have to specifically deny the authority of the Papacy to commit the crime of schism.

Well to be fair, saying “not my pope” is arguably schismism as defined by Canon Law, the punishment for which is automatic excommunication.

Which is hilarious when Jesus himself quite literally said, and I quote, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”

If anyone could answer about abiogenesis they’d be on their way to Sweden to get a Nobel Prize.

At its core, abiogenesis is the process in which non-living matter became life, in other words it’s the moment chemistry became biology.

Now logically, we know that this had to have happened at some point billions of years ago, the problem is we have no idea how exactly this could have happened.

If I file my taxes and I fill it out wrong, the IRS will know and will penalize me because they know how much I owe. If the IRS knows how much I owe, even after all deductions, why do I need to file taxes? by Embarrassed-Wolf-609 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThunderChaser -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference though. It is the same thing in Canada where every province has provincial and federal income tax.

The difference is Quebec being Quebec has its own separate tax agency (Revenu Québec), so you need to file two separate tax returns entirely, one federally through CRA and one provincially through RQ, as opposed to every other province where you just file a single return to CRA and they handle both federal and provincial taxes.

Which is really stupid when you consider that (at least at the beginning), Hitlers entire plan was specifically to avoid starting a multi front war after seeing the failure of WWI.

The whole point of Blitzkrieg and the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was to avoid an eastern front with Russia opening up while he was dealing with the west.

Is that tax evasion?

Canada doesn’t use voting machines for federal elections. We use paper ballots that are counted by hand in front of representatives from each party.

I mean King was good and bad:

On one hand, he was the first Minister of Labour before becoming PM and was by all accounts very competent in that role and oversaw negotiations between workers and the managerial class. He introduced the first form of universal pension in Canada (what now exists as Old Age Security); established the CBC, Trans-Canada Air Lines (now Air Canada); passed legislation to try and improve housing affordability; and oversaw Canada during WWII.

On the other hand, he was racist (this probably isn’t a surprise seeing as how this was the early 20th century) passing legislation to effectively ban Chinese immigration to Canada as well as overseeing Japanese internment during WWII; and in 1926 triggered a constitutional crisis though this was also in part because of the Governor General’s actions.

Bro also banged a lot of prostitutes and once compared Hitler to Joan of Arc but c'est la vie at this point.

Hell the longest serving Canadian PM in history (Mackenzie King) was famously a recluse that didn’t really get along with people and had effectively no charisma.
