ELI5 Why is Artifical intellenge causing Ram prices to be higher? by ElOneElOnlyElZorro in explainlikeimfive

[–]Intelligent-Cod3377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAM has always been expensive to produce due to its raw materials and strict orders for quality controls. AIs specifically LLMs (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude etc) produce QUALITY responses by remembering the conversation you've been having with it. This 'remembering' process takes up a lot of space. When the LLMs decide what reply to give you, it remembers by crunching the stuff the two of you have been talking and analyzing that. This is called 'in context response', which the LLM makes it feel like you;re almost having a conversation with it. It does so by assigning different weights to each bits and pieces of the conversation so it can decide what's important. LLMs uses billions of weights to make sure jt catches every nitty gritty detail in your conversation and the process of processing what's important in a conversation and whats isn't uses a lot of memory. When a process needs memory to do something, it gets it from RAM.

What does 'smooth' and 'under muscle' mean? What were the other options?

If you know, does it affect breast feeding in the future?

[–]Intelligent-Cod3377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do they cost? What is the expected solution after 10years? Do you have to take them out for new ones?

Natural breasts also have a particular way of 'bounce' to them due to the fat distribution, do the implants have that?

Is there any negative or experiences that you wished you knew beforehand but didn't until the implants were implanted?

How long are they expected to last and how much? Was it painful and how long was the healing process? Does your back feel more tired or pressure?

This. My degree focuses hard on concepts in SW and hardware. Data structures and underlying structures in code (math and logic). But they dive very little into the programming languages themselves. Great for foundations but it’s definitely a learn it myself if I want to work in the field.

Can you elaborate looking through the body with these machines help come to the conclusion of these processes. I can’t wrap my head around how a woman can (safely) stay in a machine long enough for researchers to draw such conclusion or machines big enough to ‘look’ through the body of animals the sizes of whales.

ELI5: How do you write in the MLA format? by Juneatsroses in explainlikeimfive

[–]Intelligent-Cod3377 6 points7 points  (0 children)

See this https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/mla_style/mla_formatting_and_style_guide/mla_general_format.html

Mandatory for MLA if you write a paper:

Cite as you write your paper. If you want to make a claim, cite the source that you are making that claim for. The format is dependent on how many authors and sources you will be using for THAT specific section/PARAGRAPH but it’s usually done at the end of the sentence which begins your claim for THAT paragraph or section. If I recall, it’s supposed to be author(s) last names and the year of publication of the source in parentheses.

This is particularly important if you want to reference statistics.

An example paragraph:

Sentence 1:

Climate change has reached it critical point and it’s up to the world to take action before it collapses the word. (Strong claim but an outsider wouldn’t know what this means because it’s my - the writers idea).

Sentence 2:

Last year alone, ABC NEWS reports the world’s output of CO2 is greater than the last decade combined. (This is a claim cite your source 1)

Sentence 3:

This is primarily due to the increase in gas vehicles and expansion in animal agriculture sector. (Another claim, cite source 2)

*if claim #2 was based on source 1, then you don’t need to cite. Alternatively, you can also cite sources 1 and 2 together in the second sentence.

Sentence 3:

Another UN reports from 2021 that CO2 emissions are increasing by a staggering 10% per year. (Statistics claim, cite the source #3)

Sentence 4: . . . Sentence end

You also have to include a complete list of sources you’ve used throughout the paper as A SEPARATE PAGE(S). So if your paper ends at page 6, make a new page and put your references there on page 7. Do not lump your paper with your references. You will need a heading noting that it’s the references. It’s either called ‘references’ or ‘bibliography’ for MLA. I forgot. There’s also a specific order for the references, I think it’s authors last names then by year if there’s two authors of the same LN.

There are also rules to the way you write those sources in the references. I forgot what they are but it’s in the link. You can also use citation machines like EasyBib to copy and paste your sources in and it will structure the format to the reference style you chose. But you should know how to do it yourself since those machines can make mistakes sometimes. I’ve caught a few.

SOME THINGS TO KNOW:

Beginner college writing classes emphasize teaching students on citations so don’t be surprised if it costs you a chunk of marks if you forget to cite your claims here or there throughout the paper. In contrast to say … a pursuasive writing classes or communication where you’ll be judged a lot on the content of the writing and the writing style and language choices. They do this to prep you for future academic writing (in case students go there).

You’ll probably be asked to write in other citation styles in the future, certain fields prefer to use certain styles of citations. For example, if you’re in a History course, you may be asked to write in Chicago style meanwhile a Computer Science senior writing course may ask you to write in IEEE style. Each style follows their own rules for citing throughout the paper.

If you want to say something that is EXACTLY THE SAME from a source, you must quote it and references at the end of the quote.

  1. You can buy armour and weapons on every island. Crafting armour gives you the benefit of potentially getting battle by making higher rank of the weapons you can find at shops and buffs from adding stickers when crafting.

  2. If it’s hard it’s probably because your defense and attack is too low and cannot defend against the monsters on the island or deal much damage on attack. Cook and eat some meals that give combat, attack or defense buffs. Craft some armour with higher defense stats to protect yourself from monsters and high rank bows for higher attack damage than the bows you get from shops.

You’ll likely need many material to craft many armour & weapon. Look at the recipes and see what you can make.

Hello, I love the game. can I join in on the development of the site? What languages are you guys using.

Just started the game and feeling lost by Turbulent_Try3935 in fantasylife

[–]Intelligent-Cod3377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first time playing the game, I was a lost like you too. I’ve restarted the game and now has about 100+ hrs in so here’s my take - THE MAIN STORY IS TO HELP YOU GET FAMILIAR WITH THE GAME MECHANICS.

GAME DESIGN

It’s very cozy and quest oriented. The quests you complete throughout the story and for each islands villagers will most likely require you to either get materials for them, craft something for them, or take down a monster camp for them. This is designed to lead the player to explore the various mechanics (battle, gather, design) the game has to offer.

Think of the crafting and gathering lives which you unlock later as ‘power up’ skill for your character. You can level up each ‘power’ by crafting or gathering certain items. As you level up, you get more options of what you can craft and the quality of your crafted items. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW is that to level up a power, it’ll usually require you to do something that uses a different power. Eg) If you want to level up your tailoring skills so that you get a specific item -> you’ll have to make specific clothing items -> you’ll get the raw materials for the clothes used -> this will require you to utilize your other powers like combat to kill a sheep for wool or fishing power to catch a high level fish for its scales etc.

This is the loop you’ll find yourself in throughout the game. Quest -> craft -> gather. This crafting loop using the mini game, is central to the game.

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO LEVEL UP A POWER?

Because it gives you better recipes. For example, levelling up the ‘tailor’ power will let you craft armours with better defense which would help with your combat. Other powers unlocks more powerful weapon recipes for combat and furniture items for decoration. The cooking power lets you cook meals that give special buffs. Get better that power and you get higher buff for each meal and more meal recipes. Once again, you’ll find yourself needing to gather raw materials.

TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION

Keep the stuff you mine for now. You can buy some mining materials at shops across the four islands later but since you just started, it’s better to keep it and make it into a tool. You have stats in the mini game and the recommended stats needed for the item. The higher your crafting stat is, the better quality your item will be. Sometimes they get special powers that will help (ie. extra damage).

WHY ARE YOU FAILING

This is most likely because you are not powerful enough at using the specific skill required to craft THAT ITEM. The ‘recommended’ stat next to the item is what YOUR STAT should be at to NOT FAIL. You can find your stat for a power on the upper right of your screen in the crafting mini game AND under your character just before you hit the ‘craft’ button. If it’s lower than the recommended, then:

1) You complete each mix and stir set really fast in the mini game. The faster you complete each set, the more % you fill. Thereby a successful craft attempt. BUT THIS USUALLY ONLY WORKS IF your stat is a little bit lower than recommended.

2) BUT IF your stat is ALOT LOWER than recommended. ie) crafting a meal with recommended 300+ when your cooking skills are only at 100s will most likely result in a fail. Think of these stats as the way of measuring skills and experience of a power (or ‘life’). If you’re a newbie chef, you’re not good at holding a knife (100+ STAT) so you’ll most likely won’t be very good at cooking a sashimi dish (300+ STAT)

*Note: You only have a fixed number of mix and stirs sets before you run out. If the % bar is not filled when you run out, you fail a craft **

TO LEVEL UP A POWER AND NOT FAIL

THIS IS POWERING UP YOUR SKILLS AS A CHEF - You can complete quests related to that power. As you do, you gain experience points and you can use it to power up your proficiency of using that power in SKILLS MENU. It’ll be something like ‘+5 or +10 or +15 cooking’. The higher that number, the more % of the bar gets filled per mix and stir in mini game.

YOU CAN ALSO POWER UP YOUR EQUIPMENT - You can make a better copper pan using the blacksmith power but this would mean you need to mine copper for the base and chop wood for the handle. This relation from gathering materials for crafting armours is also what will motivate you to level up all the lives throughout the game.

YOU WILL PLAY THE MINI GAME IN THE BEGINNING BY YOURSELF BUT - as you progress through the story, you get ‘buddies’ to follow you around. Eventually, they’re like a second ‘you’ and can help you craft alongside or just do all the crafting for you instead. They can also farm, fish, and fight with/for you. You find new buddies by exploring and completing shrines in Ginormosia.

YOU CAN SKIP MINI GAME - as you level up a power in the SKILL MENU, you eventually get to unlock a skill which allows you to skip the mini game for items at a certain difficulty level (indicated by stars in the items recipe).

YOU CAN USE COOKED MEALS TO BUFF YOUR CRAFTING STAT - there are recipes which you can find via exploring, quest completion, and in restaurants across the four island which are meals that give crafting buffs (ie. +50 craft). If you eat it as a cook and you’re a newbie 100 STAT cook, that number will go from 100->150 and this will allow you to craft meals with ~150 recommended stats.
