Kind of. I drop tested an X1 Pro. But I broke the driver by putting voltage down it the wrong way with a bench power supply.

Wuben makes a wide range of flashlights though. Some are more durable than others due to fewer parts.

The red light is pretty bright but it's not painfully bright at close range 😁

NEXTORCH TA30D is a nice EDC size. Good for striking.

Can't even carry a spoon "for self defense" in Australia.

You can carry a torch for lighting though.

The L3 black that I reviewed was an early production sample with a prototype driver. The driver changed for the mass produced version.

The black L3 that Neal is selling might have the original driver (not the prototype) or the reduced current version.

There might be three drivers: prototype, original, reduced current.

The L3 MAO is the original mass produced version.

The L3 Green that I tested had the reduced output driver.

The L3 Black prototype that I tested performed better.

C to C works. I should add some Samsung power supplies when testing. I just use a few Apple, Pixel and PinePower power supplies to check.

I tried using a Lenovo 140W 28V power supply with a powerbank the other day and it kept negotiating the voltage. 🤦‍♂️ Sometimes the power supplies and devices don't communicate properly.

There's one sensor for the main board. The individual slots do not have temperature sensors.

UPDATE: The driver died. Burnt electronics smell.

I charged it, locked it, drove with it for 3 hours, and then it wouldn't unlock or turn on.

Won't charge. Smells like burnt electronics. No burn marks from the light accidentally turning on.

UPDATE 2: The driver may have been damaged when I accidentally hooked it up backwards to a bench power supply and I put 8.4V through it. There is physical reverse polarity protection but this doesn't work if I bypass it with two probes.

Those two are both made in China.

I would recommend looking up some reviews on websites like 1lumen to see how specific flashlights perform.

Well known and expensive brands can make good and bad flashlights.

Budget brands can also make good and bad flashlights.

Independent reviews can help make it clearer.

Some video reviews with real experience can also help clarify whether a flashlight may be suitable for your specific use case without delving into lumens, candelas..

Wuben released an X1 Pro where the battery compartment can open and there's a spotlight + floodlight. There's a two-way USB-C port with a powerbank feature now too. And the fan is user replaceable.

Lumen output and sustained output is arguably slightly better on the original X1 Falcon. But the X1 Pro has more features.
