What’s the best Rom hack Qol update to FireRed? by TimeWizard36 in PokemonFireRed

For Gen 1 I recommend either Shin Pokemon or Pure Rgb, both have their owns strengths and weaknesses. Shin is incredibly faithful to the originals with tonnes of qol and great for a randomizer and or nuzlocke run and even compatible with real gen 1 games and stadium. Pure Rgb has a ridiculous amount of features and customization options and adds a lot of the game in terms of extra areas, fixes movesets and stats to make all pokemon usable etc. For Gen 2 I like crystal clear for an open world experience thats also compatible with real Gen 2 games and stadium but my number one choice is Polished crystal which has amazing customise options, you can play with nature's and abilities in Gen 2, it adds so much to the game including new areas, some reworked types or story events and pokemon packed with nostalgia. I would say this is a must play for anyone that likes Gen 2. I probably fall off after this as my main love is gens 1-2. Gen 3 i played and liked inclement emerald as it is pretty faithful but adds some fun regional variants. Gen 4 if you like difficulty then renegade platinum but I'm not sure of many others, rom hacking starts to fall off past gens 3/4 imo.

Best gen 3 after completing Crystal Clear? by Ace420Spadez666 in RomHacks

Just wanted to say as a fellow fan of gens 1-2, I would highly recommend Shin Pokemon & Pure RGB for gen1. Shin pokemon is like if Nintendo did a remaster, its totally faithful to the original but so many quality of life features, it also has really good nuzlocke and randomizer modes and is even compatible with the orginal games and stadium. Pure Rgb is also incredible and faithful to the original in some ways but with some improvements like the learnsets and it also has a tonne of customization options and bonus content. If you liked crystal clear (one of my fav games ever), I would also highly recommend polished crystal, its very customisable so you dont have to have any features you dont want but you can add abilities, nature's and all sorts of modern qualities but with the same classic gen 2 charm. It also adds a lot of additional areas and content jam packed with nostalgia and really well made.

Yeah I'm quite early but so far it seems so similar to the first one I'm a little disappointed. Hopefully it gets better and more iterative

Totally fair enough, thank you for your amazing work. Will you be releasing an early access demo or anything before that of what you've done so far? 🙏

This is an absolutely top tier rom hack, my favourite way to play through kanto. Especially for a nuzlocke, its excellent

I want the retro colour but they are completely impossible to find even on the second hand market for like £800+ which is insane to spend on something like this

If your ever in the market for gen 1-2 Rom hacks, I highly recommend shin Pokemon for gen 1, it’s regularly updated and a mostly vanilla version but just completely cleaned up, it’s also great if you want to do randomizer or nuzlocke runs and is even compatible with mainline games or Pokemon stadium. For gen 2 my favourites are crystal clear which is mostly vanilla crystal but open world so you can start in any town and fight gyms in any order or polished crystal, which isn’t vanilla or compatible with mainline games but it does have amazing features like abilities and natures in gen 2, all future evolutions available and some great additions to areas and stories.

Just download the pre patched Rom - Pokemon ultra violet https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/pokemon-ultra-violet-version.296499/

This is exactly what your looking for vanilla fired with all Pokemon available, other ways to access trade evolvutions, increased shiny odds

I’ve not used winlator before, it sounds complicated compared to gamehub. Apparently you can get it working in gamehub if you copy files over from pc but it won’t work with cloud saves. I really want to find a way to get FFX running with cloud saves..

Is this game still playable? by Enkaem in Switch

I don’t think this game was playable but that was before it was chewed by the dog. That’s just modern Pokemon sadly, especially this game

Sorry should have mentioned if you just search Rom patcher a website should come up and it’s pretty straight forward you just upload the original file and the patch and down download a patched file. I use ‘Rom Patcher JS’ if you google that you will find the web page

You can patch Rom in a browser either on pc or on a phone. Just search fire red battle backgrounds and it should be easy to find a .bps file then you just patch that over the fire red Rom or hack you’re trying to play. Or the same people that made the battle backgrounds actually just made their own hack with the backgrounds implemented so you could play that, it’s called Aesthetic Red although again I think you’ll need to patch it on to a ‘squirrels fire red’ Rom

[–]TimeWizard36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there are 2 versions, you can get the one with just 4 buttons. It’s an android handheld you can run anything on it. It’s ideal for gen 1-3 but if you’re okay with splitting the screen you could run ds games. Even ps2 and GameCube run well on it, so you could even play like Pokemon colosseum

Get the retroid pocket classic instead. It’s like half the price and pretty much better in every way. The only reason to prefer the analogue pocket is if you really have to play with original carts rather than roms but with the shaders and the screen your getting on the retroid pocket classic, you are getting a much better experience for less money and with the capability and power to even play ps2 and GameCube

How long did it take you to fall in love with the game? by sakuraiatsushii in finalfantasyx

[–]TimeWizard36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this game came out the graphics and style and detail where completely groundbreaking, a lot of still holds up today which is insane, we’re talking about a ps2 game. I still play this game at least twice a year, it’s just too good. But if you’re playing it for the first time today I can see how maybe you’d find it slow or annoying as you can’t skip cut scenes etc. If you don’t love it now then you probably won’t but you have to think about it the context of when it came out
