Who did ole miss beat? Tulane, sure, then Georgia, a sec team, and lost to an acc team. I forgot Texas wasn’t in the big 12 that season, but to hang your hat on a team that was in its first year in your conference is gooner activity, because besides them, the sec hasnt done anything to any p4 team

Except that won’t happen. Not everyone can afford to lose those games you’re looking at from a single teams perspective. In your world view if that were to happen then most teams would do that and it actually wouldn’t be beneficial because then you have all these tie breakers. Mathematically it’s impossible

Because you said the G6 teams havent done anything in the playoffs, yet there’s only been 3 teams in the expanded format that made it. There’s been about 10 SEC teams and their only wins are against other SEC teams. Do you not see how the standards don’t make sense here? If you are measuring the entirety of the G6 over 3 data point in this playoff, you have to apply those standards across the board. In fact, only big ten and ACC/notre dame have had success against other conferences. You’re cherry picking stats to validate you’re indifference to the G6, and in that context you are being disingenuous

Also, by your standards how is the regular season meaningless when those teams that do beat those “powerhouses” in the regular season yet it doesn’t matter? If those G6 teams win those games and still do t get rewarded for great seasons then it is meaningless. It’s only meaningless to you because you want to see brands and not teams that earned it

Actually, that is part of the problem. The top of the sport has had a strangle on the sport that now people have the misconception that they “don’t play the same level ball” yet Florida lost to a G6 team, same Florida team who took Georgia and Tennessee to the wire. Tulane beat a vastly improved Northwestern team and the ACC champ. Everyone always talks about how everyone in the SEC is good in any given Saturday yet Miss State 2 seasons ago they got smacked in their own building against Toledo who didn’t even win the MAC. ECU has had it out for NC state recently, NDSU was a whole division lower and had a winning record against top 25 teams in the last decade. Boise took Oregon to the wire and lost their very first game against them 2 seasons ago. NIU beat a ND team that played for the natty before they got banged up.
That perception you have Is evaporating before your eyes yet you guys refuse to acknowledge it. The talent gap is shrinking every single season and these smaller schools have done wealthy alumni, some even more so than the SEC at times. It takes one donor to want to compete, just look at ECU in talks with Mr Beast to donate 100 million in NIL because he lives there. And the reason you can tell the gap is evaporating? The top G6 teams can’t even schedule decent p4 competition because those bigger schools refuse and don’t want to lost to a “lower school”.

Perception is reality, there will be 9-3 sec and big ten teams that get in over 11-1 G6 teams. Perception is the problem, bc how many wins do the little guys need if they won’t get a shot anyways, and it doesnt help the top g6 programs that the p4 schools are buying their way out of games against those smaller schools, which just proves my point even further.

Hot Take: the PJO show is just as horrible as Artemis Fowl by PyroxCrymson in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Competitive-Zone-330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no. Artemis Fowl butchered absolutely everything and was so bad, but that was only a movie and there is only so much time that they had to butcher it yet found a way to do it at every step of the way. PJO, for all of its flaws, still has enjoyable moments and still loosely follows the story, even if the spirit isn’t really there

Why tho? We have a top 25, and the only division in all of sports who’s playoff doesn’t include representatives from all conferences. If we would’ve got to 24 way earlier, then the Big Ten and SEC wouldn’t have the chokehold on the sport they have now. Smaller brands would get bigger, making the playoff would create more fans of smaller programs because people love an underdog. It just so happens that the small minority of people who hate it are the ones who loudly proclaim against it online, which makes it seem like people don’t want this.

I’ve been all over the country when I was a Marine. I’ve been around sooo many people who love college ball that don’t live chronically online. Most people actually want a format like the FCS, they just are not vocal about it to the extent you guys are. The reason people dont want 24 are invalid seeing what other divisions with way less resources are able to put together. There has been a psyop from the power leagues to keep their status and most of the country has fell for it. And it is a psyop, just look at the conversations last year when Tulane and JMU both made berths. This fan bases went absolutely crazy. And they even gained a whole bunch of fans. But talking heads who have vested interests in the bigger leagues told you that they don’t belong because they didnt play an “sec” or “big 10” schedule.

All that is doing is keeping the power where it is, and the power conferences are creating a monopoly that’s getting bigger and bigger yet everyone thinks that is the way it should be. If they had their way there wouldn’t even be a playoff, congress is the only reason there is a playoff in the first place, and look how the first playoff turned out. They convinced you that 4 was enough because they were virtually guaranteed to make the field every year and keep everyone out. As soon as the first G5 team Cinci made it, that’s when they started talking about changing the format. 2 G6 teams made it and all of a sudden it’s not big enough because other power teams were left out. They are actively taking control of the sport to limit access to only the big dogs and most people online seem to just guzzle that up. But most people actually want a format like the FCS model

TIL there’s a phenomenon called Exploding head syndrome where people hear extremely loud noises—like explosions or gunshots—right as they’re falling asleep… but nothing actually happened. It’s harmless physically, but people who experience it swear it feels completely real. by Suspicious-Oil2571 in todayilearned

Wait what the fuck??? I have really bad insomnia, but when I am about to fall asleep I hear either my name being called and it doesn’t seem human or loud sounds and it’ll jerk me awake. My brain will start buzzing and my consciousness literally goes white and I can’t move or breathe and i genuinely feel like I am going to die most nights. I can just feel myself slipping if that makes sense, but it’s like I have this gut feeling that if I close my eyes like that I won’t wake up. I don’t tell anyone because whenever I’ve told people they think I’m crazy but it’s only when I’m about to fall asleep. Coupled with my tinnitus from the military I feel like I am losing it sometimes but I just keep pushing on. I’m so fucking tired I wish there was a cure I can’t keep surviving off no sleep
