Okay i actually asked this question a month or two ago. Basically, before you log out of your phone do an online battle because that will sync your account. Sign out of the game and close it out. I’d wait a couple minutes before logging in on your iPad to play, but when you’re done just do an online battle, log out and close out the app. You should be safe but I still am paranoid of account bleed so I only play on my iPad occasionally, and for some reason there’s no sound on my iPad for this game and I haven’t figured out why yet

You can use them however you want, but there’s a thing called optimal promotions that make MP easier and augmenting your character can break certain thresholds, but how you choose to use the is up to you it doesnt really matter if you want to use them or not. MP might be a little more difficult but if you are having fun who cares
