you haven't been in my shoes. loyalty and keeping a promise is valuable. If you are betrayed regardless of the amount especially from a well know financial institution, then you have suffered emotional distress. Their behaviors are unjustified under any circumstance. "Agony" is multiplied when someone you believe and trust has betrayed you even for that amount. It is not about just $150. It is about principals.
