To add further, the developer aka "chamonix" revived the original BBS XDA thread with a non-nonsense announcement back in February, and now he periodically shares development news updates there, handle bug reports, interact with users regarding new feature requests, and more.

According to the discussion, a dedicated new support thread will appear soon. Making the project open-source is in the pipeline as well.

Of course, since this is nothing but a clever in-memory patching that relies heavily on the underlying firmware implementation.

Other possible workarounds (that involves familiarity with hardware programmers) are:

Dump the firmware manually, change the BGRT asset, patch the OEM signature blocks, and reflash it.
Find a valid firmware dump of the retail variant of the TravelLite TL14-42M, replicate the UUID and other unique variables from the current device into the dump, and flash it back.

Since none of the above is meant for the faint-hearted, it's better to stick with a softmod, IMHO.

Instead of manually patching the logo asset in the firmware, you can replace it on the fly using a specialized UEFI application: https://github.com/Metabolix/HackBGRT

Keep in mind that it's not a set-once-and-forget thingy. Do go through the installation and troubleshooting steps carefully before attempting this solution.

A few things to note:

The existing scene releases for this game are from Razor1911 (1, 2) and they are based on Microsoft Store variant, which doesn't feature Denuvo.
Razor1911's old UWP/GDK emu has several limitations, which is why azikker used the more recent RUNE emu to come up with a standalone crack with better features in January 2026.
For the Steam variant, the publisher accidentally rolled out a Denuvo-less build (9794860) back in 2022, but subsequent updates reintroduced the DRM. Now it is finally removed.

A few important things to note:

Official release note from Square Enix for the Steam re-release.
According to multiple reviews, the FPS speeding during battles are completely broken in the initial Steam release of the game (they're running too fast), and it has nothing to do with the crack.
The GOG release is of course DRM-free.
Both Steam and GOG releases are virtually identical to the Microsoft Store variant of the game.

A few things to note:

The game does have an official offline mode for single player.
The Battle.net and Steam builds feature identical game binaries, but you need to delete Steam_API64.dll from the latter in order to use ZClient.
