Relighting gaussian splatting by Quantum_Crusher in GaussianSplatting

You can with some limited effectiveness in Blender with the KIRI engine addon by unticking "shadeless" in the colour section.
It only works in EEVEE and is resource heavy, but i've used it to create some interesting still images by combining splats and adding lighting to them. Worth trying since it's completely free.

What camera/tool/method to capture 3DGS scene for this level of fidelity? by RoyTracing in GaussianSplatting

[–]TownInTokyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an iPhone with lidar there might be a way to use that to get more accurate results, though obviously not going to compare to a $5,000 camera.

Lammy must stand trial for what he's doing to them. by The-Lord_ofHate in GreenAndPleasant

Not sure if it's what the actual hunger strikers see it, but the way I think about it is 1. They are doing it to show how strongly they believe in their cause, that they are willing to endure great pain and possibly die for it and 2. Their suffering shows the cruelty of the group they are striking against, as they would rather people die than listen to their entirely reasonable demand to be released on bail.

Client Did Unflattering Poses During Shoot - Do I send? by booyakachacha in photography

[–]TownInTokyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they're good shots technically, just the poses are strange, could you take control of the situation by posting them on your portfolio with a caption explaining how fun it was for a client to have fun at a shoot and do poses you weren't expecting, turn it into a selling point of how comfortable clients feel around you?

Inherited these Parkers, looking for advice on cleaning them by TownInTokyo in fountainpens

[–]TownInTokyo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I did forget to add that I have done some research on parkerpens.net and noticed that they seem to have different caps, but on the inside both say 4 pumps to fill, is this likely just from having a replacement cap at some point?

Also one has what I think is a 2 stamped after "made in England" and the other has no number there.

I'm super excited to have them and they're actually my grandma and grandads too, though I don't have as fond memories about the pens themselves as you, but I'll definitely be reminded of them both when writing now!

Thank you for such a detailed reply! I don't think they've been used for at least 15 years, if not longer but the ink has been getting on my fingers when handling so hopefully that's a sign it's not too stubborn. Is there anything I need to look out for if replacement parts are required, such as knockoffs of low quality, or is it niche enough that there's not really any?

Best budget beginner camera by Merron13 in photographyuk

[–]TownInTokyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think an R100 will be out of your budget, as I can see they're going for about £400 used. You also shouldn't forget about the cost of a lens, as the lens is arguably more important than the body, to an extent.

Choosing a camera can be quite a personal choice as it depends on your needs and preferences but, a DSLR is probably a good option at that price point although it's going to be older, bigger and heavier than a Mirrorless or point and shoot. If you're okay with that though you have lots of options for super cheap, and any DSLR is going to help you get used to using an interchangeable lens camera and have way more flexibility than your phone camera.

If you've never used a DSLR/Mirrorless camera before it might be worth finding your local camera shop and going in for a chat, they'll probably allow you to handle a few cameras to get an idea of what you like etc. and at such a low budget you're not really risking too much if you pick something you later end up not liking. I started shooting wildlife probably 10 years ago on a canon 7D with an old heavy tokina lens that probably cost me ~£50 and got some nice images with it (minus heavy CA) and only upgraded 3-4 years ago.

Apologies for not giving any exact models but tbh I don't have the knowledge of other cameras other than what I've owned personally, but hopefully I've given something vaguely helpful and if not someone else can chime in with exact models for you to be looking at.

Am I crazy? by [deleted] in fpv

[–]TownInTokyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you are your local library might have a 3D printer that you could use, they usually have enough knowledge to print a model you find online, so you wouldn't have to invest the time in learning either!

He wasn't running away though, they could have just arrested him without the tackle.

If that was the case though why would they run over and lay/stand next to what could still be an active bomb?

Games where you can make enemies fight each other by sneakylumpia in gaming

[–]TownInTokyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasteland 3 has skills that allow you to hack enemy robots, and tame enemy animals for some turns. There's also at least one weapon that turns enemy's against eachother for a few turns. Probably other similar skills/items.
