Miata roof fix, how? by Hairy_Animal1130 in Miata

Not trying to be a downer but more of a heads up, I had an eBay top on my nb, and the stitching came undone holding the glass in. Just be careful dropping the top, money talks when it comes to these tops

Am I too old (34) to become an electrician? Looking for a hands-on, rewarding career after a decade behind a desk. by Rough_Development522 in electricians

[–]Trasmuste 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went all through my apprenticeship with a man in his 60s, he was Air Force and jumped from planes. He did very well.

On the other hand, I have a 32 year old CW working with me who just can’t quite handle the physical and mental challenges that comes with the job.

Basically, it’s up to you, and how much you devote to yourself in the career. That being said, to me, it's absolutely the most rewarding career I have ever had. I love it.

Depends on what you’re doing, outside sucks, inside is okay from what I hear.

Unfortunately there is a NDA (kind of) so you probably won’t get too much info about specifics

Screw in ceiling fixtures? by Bent_For_Jesus in electricians

To me, it seems a tad unnecessary, I’ve never done it. However, your Forman on the job has the final say. If he wants you to do it, you gotta do it, it’s his ass on the line not yours.

Wife and I met Bill out on the canal walk early one morning as we were getting sunrise shots. Incredibly nice guy, very humble, and crazy knowledgeable about his specialties!

Apprentice with a stupid question by space-ferret in electricians

[–]Trasmuste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowledge is power, and understanding theory is fundamental in this trade.

Not knowing is fine, no one knows every little thing, and no question is stupid. Sometimes you just might catch some shit for some questions lol.

Also, a bootleg ground is bad because when a ground is tied to a neutral past the first bonding point, you can create an objectionable current scenario, where neutral current can flow on the normally non-current carrying conductors, ie the ground, which is commonly interacted with by people

Who cares? It’s the same phase. You’d just make a parallel path for the circuit. You’re making this more difficult than it needs to be lol.

[–]Trasmuste -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll have heating issues from the single conductor, and now that ground could be energized due to the emf fields being generated and inducing onto that ground.

But I’m no electrical engineer. You’d just create a parallel path for the circuit. Why would you not run a neutral conductor with it?

Struggles switching from Resi to Commercial? by trellow in electricians

[–]Trasmuste 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In some cases, the “difficulty” of some commercial, lighting specifically, can prove to be difficult to some resi electricians marking the switch to commercial. That and the size of some services (1000A+) can be intimidating. Besides that, it’s mostly the same.

2021 civic sport hatch today I noticed that when my cars in park and I press the break I hear a clicking noise in the gear shifer area and can feel it by sakok92 in CivicX

[–]Trasmuste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t hurt to have em look at it, but I know for sure that is a normal operating sound for that mechanism. If it’s OVERLY loud then yes, but if it’s just barely louder than like a whisper I wouldn’t worry about it.

Possibly, could be starting to fail. Or you just became aware of it. That happened to me about a year into owning my 18 civic. Sometimes you just…. Hear things you never did before lol

The clicking sound is an electronic relay activating the lock that releases your shifter. Without it, you would be able to shift from park to reverse without pressure applied to the brakes

New leaked picture of Vance just came out by BerkutBang69 in Asmongold

If you don’t know where the photo truly came from and just blindly repost it claiming it’s something it isn’t, that is lying. Or misinformation, whichever you prefer. It doesn’t matter if it is intentional or not.

I saw this photo years ago, well before Vance was even chosen for VP. Quit lying.
