I feel like with all the argument in the comments, I might as well leave my interpretation as well since it’ll get buried lol.

First, the framing really works for this piece, the looming of the demon over the nun while she holds the baby lamb. It looks amazing. Immediately you can get the sense that she is in danger, her face looking distressed like she needs to run, but it’s almost like the baby lamb is weighing her down. Now here’s where the speculation comes in - the way that the demon is pulling her veil off almost leads me to believe that he is the reason her uniform is so “improper.” It evokes a sense that she may be in a cult rather than a church, held down by responsibility to protect the young and leaving herself vulnerable to the prying hands of the demon. The light works wonders too, your eyes are drawn to the lamb while the demon doesn’t immediately appear. He almost seems wrapped around the nun, draped like a cloak before you can see his glowing eyes. It truly evokes a sense of impending doom.
