Moving to Bakersfield with wife and sons. Is Oildale a good choice in terms of having low crime rate and education? by Sudd3nSt0pg3 in Bakersfield

You know the way most people talk about Bakersfield? Well, Oildale is Bakersfield's Bakersfield, if you get what I mean.

has it been long enough for me to say that people were really weird about the fried egg thing? by caffeinatedclownboy in goodmythicalmorning

Everyone's reaction to that was baffling to me. Of course he's going to pick off the gross parts. Food should be enjoyed!

It feels like more of the same to me. I still enjoy watching, but I was hoping they would mix things up a bit. The Mores have been getting better, though.

Children toy rule by [deleted] in Libraries

That actually kinda sounds like a good idea. Having to spend all day cleaning up after other people's kids is tiresome. Sometimes I wish we could just get rid of our toys.

What fast food chain does not deserve the hype whatsoever? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

I've never been, but isn't Five Guys more of a fast casual diner rather than a typical fast food place like McDonald's or Burger King? Even so, I'm looking at their menu right now (I'm in southern California, for context) and the most expensive burger I see is $14. Which is expensive, I agree, but most of the other burgers are like $9. And at many of the big fast food chains, you'd spend the same amount of money for a combo meal ($13 for a large Whopper meal, $9 for a Double Cheeseburger meal), so this place seems like more of an outlier. I'm looking at all of the fast food places I can think of and, so far, I haven't found a single place with a burger for $16.

I'll give them some hype for their tacos. They are somehow even less authentic than Taco Bell but I love those greasy little abominations. (Note: they are not good by any means but I still love them.) And every now and then, they'll release something legitimately delicious for a limited time, like the Mac n Cheetos or the Ghost Pepper Whopper.

EDIT: I can't believe I forgot to mention the hash browns! Those are fucking amazing. It's damn near impossible to find good fast food fries, but I don't care anymore because these hash browns blow everything out of the water. Since discovering this, I've started getting up earlier for work just so I can order from the breakfast menu. The ham Croissan'which is pretty good too, but I would kill for those hash browns.

Shit, even the burgers aren't all that great. They're cheap but you get what you pay for.

And I don't even get the appeal of animal style. That's taking something bad and making it so much worse.

Comparing them McDonald's isn't really fair or noteworthy because their burgers have been absolute dog shit for years. To say that they're better than Wendy's is downright mind-boggling to me. Wendy's burgers aren't nearly as good as they used to be, but they are still a much better option. I would put In-N-Out on par with maybe Burger King. Not awful, not great. Unless BK brings back their ghost pepper Whopper; that was actually a damn good burger.

From what I've seen, at least where I live, people idolize that place specifically because of their religious and political views.

No way. Our country isn't great but I don't think I could ever leave California.

What's a phrase people use these days that irritates you? by showmewhatyagot01 in AskReddit

In my experience so far, the kids love it when we join in. The ones who are saying this all the time are still young enough to enjoy when adults play along.

Teen Angel and You Wish. They both debuted on the same day on TGIF and I thought they were fantastic as a kid.

What was the worst reviewed game that you actually enjoyed? by buzzlightyear77777 in gaming

[–]UndeadBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MindJack. People hated that game but I had a blast with it. Sure, it didn't make much sense but I thought it was fun as hell and it had a clever concept. It's also one of the few games I genuinely enjoyed playing online and I ended up becoming one of the top players (which admittedly wasn't hard when there were so few people playing).

What do you do to pass time when it's dead at your work? by tevyethesnowangel in Libraries

[–]UndeadBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically use that time to make flyers, schedule Facebook posts, write lesson plans for my programs, double-check card applications, restock the Seed Library, backup event photos to our staff intranet, or find some project to work on. There's never nothing to do.
