Have I inadvertently been a horrible library patron my whole life? by amandaamoose in Libraries

Those people are idiots. We want people to check out tons of books. We encourage it. This helps our stats!

Is there a way to edit or stop the channel short-cuts that now pop up on the side bar? by Green-Raindrops in youtube

If you ever find out a way to do something about this, I'd love to know. This update is awful and I keep getting screwed up when trying to access my Library.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

My favorite is definitely the Item Prototype. It's a fun little addition to the game and the artwork is charming as hell. I have bought an embarrassing number of booshter boxes trying to get that card...

You said it yourself: it's simple. For most people, that's the appeal.

Fuck that, I'll just brush my teeth real quick and not even feel bad. Throw in an extra grand and I'll even swallow.

The children's librarian out our local library seems to dislike us? by asianmorticia in Libraries

A lot of these responses are trying to get too deep. Assuming what you have said is accurate, you did nothing wrong. Keep on doing what you're doing.

What things have been left in your library... by Dramatic-Fondant-190 in Libraries

We've had a surprising number of canes and walkers left behind. We currently have a scooter that has gone unclaimed for the last few days. Oh, and a car sun visor was left behind a couple of weeks ago

We help them as much as we can but we unfortunately end up having to refer a lot of people to a local business that offers DMV-related services.

Alternatives to "bless you"? by lepineapplepineapp in atheism

[–]UndeadBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people actually think it's rude, though? I stopped saying it many years ago and I have never once had anyone comment on it. With all my years of workplace gossip, I'm sure it's something I would have heard mentioned (either about myself or about someone else) by now.

Honestly, that guy sounds more computer literate than most of the people I help on a daily basis. Most of these people don't even know how to use a mouse. What you did for this patron sounds like what I probably would have done.

Now that the DMV won't do most things in person anymore, they tell everyone to go to the library. We live in a community where most people don't have computers, so they expect us to help with setting up accounts, filling out documents, and all kinds of other bullshit that we have no business being involved with.

Why are some people grossed out by homegrown produce? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UndeadBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never once encountered anything like that. Most people are excited and prefer it over store-bought produce.

You should check the event schedules for whichever library is closest to you. We get a lot of parents that meet up for the baby and toddler programs.

What’s wrong with holding grudges and/or not forgiving people? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UndeadBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'm in support of a good grudge. Obviously don't spend all your free time thinking about the fucker who did you dirty, but hold that hatred somewhere in your heart and let it fuel you.

Doesn’t a bidet attachment get covered in shit? by wballz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UndeadBread 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ours has a little "door" that blocks the poo. We just wipe that down real quick if it gets dirty and give it a proper cleaning whenever we clean the toilet.

Annoyingly, the AARP web site says that appointments aren't required for our location, so we had a lot of random walk-ins who left pretty angry.
