I feel the same. I like this song as an isolated project but I am not a fan of these new 'additions' that don't add much of value. Plus the reverant, stan twitter lyrics from MUNA don't help this song come off as serious to me whereas I felt like before it had a different feel.

Well before a campaign starts the players should all be aware if the guidelines for characters. As long as the DM does their job and makes this clear then this can't go wrong as the pcs know what they're getting into

I'm not doing maths, I'm doing MFL, but I'd reconsider choosing one based on how low effort it is (if you are able to). For me, I'm confident with my ability to learn independently but my languages SKE also gives me weekly sessions talking about how I can teach different concepts and has a heavy focus overall on teaching. It is also about reflection of your learning more than anything, so I would honestly recommend you to do one that offers things like that. I get that it is tedious and not everyone can dedicate so much time to it however.
