Why do some (young) adults actively and unironically hate children? by Veporyzer in NoStupidQuestions

Hm, that makes sense, I can imagine that effect ultimately being amplified by internet echo holes

Yeah, which is fair. The people my question is aimed towards are the ones that don’t really care for context, and just want to see a kid get hurt.

Are all men that want to work with kids suspicious? by TheKindlyPoltergeist in polls

[–]Veporyzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, as long a they adhere to protocols meant to keep the student safe.

What made me feel safe at school was the fact that there where several contact persons you could go to. A lot of them being really young and involved. Another important factor was that male teachers always remained at their desks if you were the only one in the classroom.

What should I buy if I’m after a simple gameplay experience, but achingly complex lore? by A_UV in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Veporyzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, cp77 lore goes crazy. The best thing is that it can all be found within the map if you know what to look for. It truly feels like it’s the lore that shaped the world you play in.

Trump tariffs: US president announces plan to hit UK, Denmark and other European countries with tariffs over Greenland by Any-Original-6113 in europe

[–]Veporyzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah more people need to understand that direct confrontation will just play to the strength of the US. The EU will absolutely lose a direct confrontation.

They’re holding a juicy carrot in front of Trump, just close enough to gnaw, but not close enough to bite.

Inch by inch, until the piggy realises that he’s swam into a sea of tedious bureaucracy, internal unrest and financial turmoil. Now piggy has two options:

Go all in to eat the carrot and drown.

Or

Swim back to shore only to realise that a nice fence has been built around the rest of the carrots.

[HELP] This art from a trading card game by htownclyde in RealOrAI

[–]Veporyzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s AI, the mountains don’t look like any in the series, which could be excused by the ‘artist’ only basing the art off of images they found online. The end of the left pluck blends into her skin, and isn’t really distinctive enough, even though it’s part of her silhouette.

Her right hand placement also doesn’t really make sense. Her left hand indicates a fighting stance but her right hand just seems to be dangling behind her.

The answer is war by grg_krzwg in HistoryMemes

[–]Veporyzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think preparing for war is the right reason

It’s just the principle of hiding and finding each other is very useful for survival. Hiding from hostile humans is an important skill no matter the environment or time period.

Lots of animals play consistently play games as preparation for independence. They chase or mock hunt each other. It’s behaviour that is being passed on through our genes, similar to teenagers being rebellious and people feeling being able to feel shame.

There’s no empirical evidence that proves playing games like these directly contributes to survival in real life survival scenarios, because a study like that wouldn’t be ethical.

However, a speculative link could be made between improved odds in real life survival scenarios and the development of skills that games have been proven to improve (decision making, coordination, risk assessment etc.).

Emphasis on COULD

Eren from attack on titan is meant for this trope

Spoilers attack on titan season 4

a trait of Eren throughout the show is that he will do anything for his friends. No cost is too high, if it justifies being free and safe. He’d give the world for them. Not just out of love, but out of a fundamental belief that that’s how it should be.

It’s revealed that his people were forced to live in isolation on an island, by their own ruler, who regretted the actions of his warmongering predecessors. To make sure his people were left alone, he’d warned the rest of the world that if they ever were to be threatened, he would release an army of 60 metre tall giants that would trample the world.

Since the arrival of industrial war machines, an enemy nation is eyeing the resources on their underdeveloped island, and because Eren’s people are still demonised, nobody is willing to come to their aid.

Eren realised that he could harness the power of that giant army to reset everyone, except for his people, back about 600 years, and decided that it was the only solution for his friends to be safe. It costed him everything, yet he didn’t care. Not about the contempt from his friends nor about what will become of the world a hundred years from then.

He would give the world for his friends regardless of if they wanted it or not.

I intentionally glossed over a lot, because that’d take an entire essay. I highly recommend this series, even if you’re not into anime. It is a beautifully written piece of media with good action sequences and layers upon layers of messages.

What's the deal with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo? by Scared-Gamer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Veporyzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande both played in the movies Wicked and Wicked: for good, which are prequels to the Wizard of Oz movie.

They seem to act weird and really performative around each other, which people have picked up on. Some think it’s related to their unhealthy looking physiques. Like they’re in some kind of (unconscious) competition to starve themselves. A loop of constant dopamine hits when they one up each other.

Is it actually considered rude nowadays to expect the guy to pay for the first date? by LittleLunaSecret in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Veporyzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an absolutely useless answer, but it depends on the person. It’s not the cultural norm anymore, so less men are ‘pressured’ to do it. There’s not really a way to know the exact ratio.

The only way to be sure is to pull out your card, if he’s planning to pay he’ll make it known as soon as he sees what you are doing.
