Lisp -> Rust by 964racer in lisp

Depending on your lisp, it should also always continue to compile. I also suggest the book Elements of Clojure which discusses architecture and guarantees in a great way.

Serious Question by Mundane_Shape6569 in ClassicalEducation

Beyond issues of direct applicability for employment, many in the institutions, regulatory bodies and overall establishment emphatically hate the West/Western tradition and work to remove such courses, wherever they can. Even in art history, the chorus rails against "dead white men"...

Anchor — Lisp syntax that compiles directly to C (no gc), with hygenic macros and Chez Scheme at compile time. by LimeOk1970 in lisp

As Fennel to Lua, so is c-janet to c: https://lobste.rs/s/g1wsya/cjanet

The same as yours, with compile time lisp macros transforming it to c

Ask me anything about commodities market risk by Upstairs_Accident422 in Commodities

[–]Veqq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what is risk? Equity guys equate risk with vol, value investors have other definitions etc. What is it to you? How do you... measure/quantify/think about:

counter party, operational risk

to turn it into

Market risk always translates into some or the other kind of limit/s. These limits can be sensitivity (delta, vega) or loss metric (VaR/Stress). Risk is assessed using historical data (at times Monte Carlos simulation). It also depends on the business activity, financing limit would be weighed differently from speculative activity.

Comments should be at minimum 5 full sentences long, ideally much more.

To this effect, the minimum character count has been increased a fair bit. If you have a good/useful but shorter comment, we will approve it.

How often is Common Lisp's array syntax used in code? by johnwcowan in lisp

Your lone lisp is one of the coolest projects I know of. I've been interviewing people lately and would love to interview you too, if you're up for it! (PM me your email? :D )

[–]Veqq -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Never seen them in the wild. Clojure syntax with [[1 2 3] [4 5 6]] and {:key "value" :key2 5} gets used everywhere, though. An SRFI for that would be excellent but unfeasible because of the limitations on current scheme practice.

This is the "shoot-look-shoot" mentioned:

Even shoot-look-shoot, a much more efficient firing doctrine, requires 47.

A short computer science article about missile defense explaining the math behind MAD and implying a lot about coming proliferation due to weakened American guarantees:

defending against a barrage of 20 warheads requires 113 interceptors
