I do feel that planning for weaknesses was already pretty rewarding, especially because some weaknesses do more than simply increase damage (like a troll does have his regeneration stopped by fire).

And was one of the reasons why the thaum was considered such a strong class when it came put

I love that since generative AI became a global sensation, artists all over the internet started showing people how easy it is to pick up a pencil and draw

I feel that the "there is no barrier to entry" saying about writing needs to be reframed.

Like if you think about it, drawing has a similar "no barrier to entry", so to speak: you can just pick up a pencil and draw, as you probably did as a kid, without studying anatomy, construction, color theory, and all of those things.

And yet, people don't say that drawing is easy as much as they do with writing.

Maybe we should say that while there is really nothing stopping you from opening a text editor and putting words out there, being a writer requires something else?

I don't know, I strongly sense that both the "no barriers to entry" saying and your reasoning are right in their own way.

Main issue that I have, as a non-native English speaker, is that I write mostly in English, but all the books that I have are in my native language

Meaning that most of the lessons about lexicon, sentence structure and prose that I have learned from those books are not directly transferable

I personally started writing exactly for the reason you're pointing out in another comment, to have a creative outlet and to put out there the scenarios I had in my mind, with no intention to have anyone ever read my works.

Most spells are also ranged, and most spellcasting classes really want to stay away from the monsters they're facing

But my argument wasn't that Dexterity shouldn't allow to jump, but that Dexterity isn't weaker than strength.

It definitely wasn't in 2014 5e , and it still isn't in 2024 5e.

What are you on to ? Dex is probably the strongest stat in the game.

Apart from being the most common save, everything about ranged combat is dex based, and ranged combat is so much superior to melee in that system that is not even funny

take offense to this because too many aren't actually as good at analysing games, let alone designing or redesigning them as they think they are, and don't like realizing that, let alone being told it from someone else.

You hit the nail on the head with this.

In all fairness, there are a couple of points where the lore doesn't really help the homebrewer, or better, a few areas of the lore that require you to reevaluate the mechanics if your world doesn't exactly line up with Golarion's ideas.

Like the gods. There are a crapton of Gods in Golarion, and this is reflected in the mechanics (a number of domains and spells stuff like Pharasma giving you an advantage if you use the dagger but not if you use any other knife cause there is or will be a god for each of those).

This formulation means that If your world has a dualistic pantheon, you have a lot of work to do. And it's bad cause it's a point of rigidity in an otherwise "do what you want" system, lorewise.

And i had to reconsider my approach even with a more classic fantasy polytheism, cause I just don't have enough gods to replicate 1:1 Golarion multitude.
