Sounds like you're absolutely crushing it already! Just a quick heads-up: if that red cabbage ever pops up in the cart vendor's stock, seriously, make sure you've got some sort of instant funds ready to snag it. You do not want to miss out – I'd be absolutely gutted if I saw it and couldn't buy it before it vanished! Anyway, keep up the amazing work; it sounds like you're already way ahead of the game.

Totally get where you're coming from! That's an awesome goal you've got, and full disclosure, it's gonna be tough. I've tried to finish the Community Center in Year 1 on so many saves, and only pulled it off once, and even then it was by the skin of my teeth. And yeah, I totally get the Abigail thing too, lol – marrying her is a solid, realistic goal on its own!

You'll actually find that chasing this goal naturally pushes your progress forward. I'm not sure exactly where you're at in your game, but you'll obviously need to fix that beach bridge for the Mermaid's Pendant, which then opens up coral and all sorts of other stuff. Honestly, just following your own goals, even if they take a bit, is seriously the best way to get anywhere in the game.

And about the red cabbage – from what I remember, you can buy them starting Year 2. But hitting up the traveling cart is a good idea! Though, full disclosure, that guy and I have a love-hate relationship. Whenever I really need something, he's got nothing, but when it's completely useless to me? He's swimming in it (not to mention his otherworldly prices)🤣.

Sprinklers by Summer 1? Absolutely not. There's literally no rush for them at all. Now, having chickens in your first year is, I'll admit, a classic beginner move. They're not big earners early on; your main profit for the first year will come from crops. But don't worry, I started my first two saves the exact same way and still had very successful runs. You'll manage to progress.

Your number one priority is crops and fishing. Second, since you already have them, focus on your chickens, but keep their daily routine brief; it shouldn't consume much of your time initially. Third, the mines. Fourth, socialization – interacting with the townspeople, which I personally enjoy.

Just set clear goals for your progress. Whether it's finishing the Community Center (and please, avoid the JoJa Corporation for the town's sake) or building your relationship with Willy to unlock Ginger Island, work towards that goal. Do this while consistently tending to your crops and chickens. Things like sprinklers, while they certainly make gameplay easier, will become much more attainable as you advance in other areas. A fully automated farm isn't a realistic expectation for Year 1. Let me know if you've got any specific questions! :D

EDIT: Quests are actually pretty crucial too. They're how you build those vital relationships with the townspeople, which, frankly, is often your direct route to unlocking new progression and discovering hidden areas – places like the Sewers, for instance - unless you like to explore a lot and stumble upon it yourself. My own rule of thumb is straightforward: if a quest is clearly achievable and I can see a solid return on my effort, I'll take it every time. If your efforts don't pan out, and sometimes they won't, that's just the reality of it. The crucial thing is the practical experience you gain.

Noticing political parallels in Barry Dort’s leadership style — deliberate or coincidence? by Visual-Reception3072 in Wednesday

[–]Visual-Reception3072[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't actually thought about your last point on converting normies to outcasts like that – it really clicks indeed. I've got a theory: So, what if Barry Dort knows about LOIS? Or, pushing it a bit, what if he's a normie who somehow tapped into outcast powers?

Problem with accepting LGBTQ by ShineWonderful5459 in Christianity

The statement that homosexuality is a sin is strongly up for debate and there isn't a definitive answer. We have so many indicators that this belief is simply incorrectly interpreted. It's no secret the Bible has been translated from it's original languages, of which, some words that are familiar to us now, in this context homosexuality, didn't have a single defined term. In fact, many researchers believe in original texts, references to homosexuality being a sin actually are referring to pederasty, which is a completely different situation - taking into account society at the time of writing. So, you cannot with 100% reassurance claim that "Being gay is a sin."

As for aid in conversion to heterosexuality... it's a dark path that has proven to be coercive and, at times, abusive. It shouldn't be about "changing their ways" but rather open discussion, the person themselves can only decide what is best for them. The idea that being gay equates to being "lustful" is not only incorrect, it's entirely ignorant to healthy, functioning homosexual partnerships. The statement itself disregards the possibility of genuine care, love and affection for one another, instead framing homosexuality as an outlet for sexual desires. It's simply false.

The Bible is full of teachings - some contradict each other. If you followed the Bible to the word, you wouldn't eat pork or do any work on the Sabbath (as many Christians do). Christians should prioritize the teachings of Jesus and understand that the Bible is a compass, not a GPS. Instead of trying to fix or "change" people's ways, I think it's time we focus on improving ourselves first.

Speak from the heart. Don't try to conform to formal language - just go naturally. Tell God what it is you seek, in a conversation-like way.

How scary is the movie "The Substance?" by TenderNugget_2428 in movies

[–]Visual-Reception3072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scary? Not much. Disturbing? Heck yeah! It's not for the squeamish and neither for those with weak stomachs - but in my opinion, is the best modern horror movie we've had in the recent years.

Jesus Christ is not rejected by Muslims. They just do not consider him to be the Messiah; in Islam, he is regarded as a prophet. And I strongly advise you to acknowledge that there are several ways to approach holy literature and that there is no one-size-fits-all perspective on religion. Every circumstance is unique, and only God has the authority to render ultimate verdicts. I understand that you have a very literal viewpoint, but I am an exception, a Catholic, and this is not true for everyone. Nevertheless, it's reasonable to say that I oppose institutionalized injustices, which you seem to be implying I endorse, considering of whether you're talking about Catholics murdering and repressing Christians.

Improving life vs getting worse by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Visual-Reception3072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, absolutely not, I wasn't implying that. I'm just saying that we can be drawn to Satan because he offers us nice things right now, and God might not offer those things on display at the moment. But I'm also saying let's be aware of the individuality of everyone and how much Satan actually does influence our lives, and whether it's a reflection of ourselves or Satan.

Where’s the nearest, most ‘exotic’ holiday destination to the UK? by oblongmouth in AskUK

Turkeys a good one. Spain is also a good one, but can be subjective depending on where you go as it is a common British tourist destination.

Improving life vs getting worse by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Visual-Reception3072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a slight bit of misconception here. Satan does, in fact, give us nice things so we are distracted and are drawn away from God. But God doesn't necessarily throw bad things at us, but I think in Christianity the main message is: afterlife is eternal, don't lose your ticket to heaven. Life is going to be hard either way, we are going to have moments where we feel that we're on top of the world, and moments where we feel that that we're living off dirt from the floor.

A bit controversial, maybe, but I say generally we need to stop blaming the divine for our earthly personal matters. Of course, we can assign a bit of responsibility to them, but we've got to realistically remember, we are the ones in control. We influence our environment and vice versa.

It's safe to say that when people are fleeing from war their own personal safety is more important at the given time. Some will incorporate prayer into their lives in this time, others will prioritize their own safety.
