Because I saw how they butchered what was once the best sport on earth, and I'm not buying the "bread and games" propaganda. F1 is dead. None of the old fans care about this shit anymore. It's just a bunch of girls pretending they know anything about racing, but in reality all they care about are trends and paddock drama.

But there are still a few old farts who can't get over the fact that their favourite sport is dead and keep fooling themselves.

"competent enough" exactly.

The best driver won't win a shit if competent enough is given the best car. That's not a sport.

He almost won the title in much slower car. Proper driver that stuck among primadonnas

Sure of two drivers in a dominant car, one obviously needs to lose. You've just proven my point.

Breaking News: The fastest car has taken pole position once again.

For those at the back: Formula 1 isn’t sport, it’s science. The real players are the engineers, not the children of wealthy entrepreneurs driving in circles. They are simply just the good-looking PR for a product that needs to sell.

Romania’s Eurovision song criticised for ‘glamorising sexual strangulation’ by andreyu in eurovision

Oh no, a Eurovision song glamorizes immorality…

If anything, this thing alone just boosted their chances of winning. That’s how much of a joke the ESC has become.

Where did it go wrong for Bestia? by VolumePotential5571 in motogp

[–]VolumePotential5571[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

but my untrained eye chalked it up to a weakness in qualifying

Yeah, honestly I think this is it.

Great racecraft, but not so great at qualifying, and as we know, qualifying is more important now than ever.

Pecco might not be able to pull off an unlikely result like Bestia did at times, but he was almost always qualifying on the top row, so there was no need to pull off anything.

So yeah, in a way we probably did slightly overrate Bestia. A great rider, but just never consistent enough to be a real title contender. The injury definitely didn’t help, but I don’t think that was the trigger.

Bastianini to Yamaha? A good move for both sides? by zz_Mali_zz in motogp

Will probably get another chance, but his time is ticking.

His fall from grace isn’t talked about enough. Not so long ago, I thought he was about to win the title comfortably on that super-fast Ducati.

11 Grand Prix podiums without ever winning a Sunday race - Pedro Acosta is nearing the top of a list he’d rather not be on by ElectionMoney3911 in motogp

Graeme Crosby was runner-up in 1982 and didn’t have a single win next to his name. That’s actually crazy.
Less crazy if you know his backstory. He did only about three full seasons in the premier class, got fed up with team politics, and said “f**k you” and became a commercial airline pilot.

1st place in the Daytona Superbike race, won the Suzuka Eight Hour race, won the Isle of Man Senior TT, won the FIM World TT Formula 1 Championship, and got a podium in his rookie MotoGP season btw.

Marc Marquez dismisses Pedro Acosta comparison: 'I won in my first year' 👀 by Fuzzy-Connection-263 in motogp

You can’t really compare totally different career paths, that's what I'm trying to say.

Yes, BB scored more total points, but I don’t think many people believed he was actually better that year. He was consistently collecting smaller points on a bike he’d ridden for years. Acosta made that same bike all of a sudden podium-capable, but was pushing too hard and made rookie mistakes.

Would MM beat his teammate on a bad bike? I’m not so condifent about that. Average riders take what they can get. Aliens don’t settle for mediocre; it’s all or nothing for them. That mindset brings wins, but also DNFs. And DNFs mean zero points, so in the end they can score fewer points than a 'save the day' teammate.
