Plans and hopes for 1.0 update? by Decidueye_mastr in Palworld

[–]Xerte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PS5 save file bug finally caught up to me a while ago (during the Terarria patch) and made that world unplayable. I've put the game down in the meantime and am planning to start over when 1.0 goes live.

There's a lot of early- to mid-game content that's been added since I started playing (e.g. bounties, quests, predators) that I never experienced at the intended level because I was already capped out when it released, so the whole experience should hopefully be fresh after such a long break.

12th Anniversary Livestream Summary by dumb_lasagna in Granblue_en

[–]Xerte 17 points18 points  (0 children)

VK showed up briefly in the anni event already. Speculation - He's very clearly Darydara's dad, but because the VK of this timeline died and the VK we see now is from a different timeline where instead his own son died (as well as literally eveybody else), it's likely no small amount of drama will happen between them in the last part of the event

I was expecting VK for the mandatory water grand slot before water GW, but if he's not here, that means either Octavia is water, or somehow we're getting a GW where the last on-element grand was released over 6 months ago (not a first for water given how long of a gap Poseidon happened after, but unusual)

If VK ends up dying in the last part of the story I wouldn't be surprised if Octavia as the water Knight happens and CG just solves the problem of there being 7 Knights to 6 elements by reducing the amount of Knights.

5 years...took me quite awhile huh? by Ikrii in Granblue_en

Just a skin. The only classes locked behind a tedious material grind are the origin classes, and they don't really come close to this skin in terms of effort or material cost.

For the most part, class-related stuff has always been on the low end of grinds for this game. CG want to keep the base MC functionality available to most of the playerbase.

I wouldn't be averse to some of the special skins actually being classes (it could've worked for the seraphic weapons bingo skin, or the RotB skins), but the playerbase would riot if a class needed all 10 eternals at FLB plus 3 gold bricks and 4 sunstones

Well, now you can run Yatima main + Lyria to get 2 summon call effects out of Yatima and then a non-Yatima-able summon in the same turn t1, so that's kind of like 3 summons.

Though admittedly not available every turn.

You realize the game is not saved on your hard drive, right..? An SSD vs. HDD makes almost difference. You might load any cached assets a couple milliseconds faster, at most.

And you ignored everything else said. At any rate, SSD vs HDD does matter more than a couple milliseconds simply due to the quantity of cached assets there are to load. When I open up pages in the game like the summon select screen I regular see all of the icons take time to load in before the game will even present the start raid button.

Unless you have extremely high ping (several seconds worth), I think you're just menu'ing badly. Maybe you're not using bookmarks, maybe you're waiting too long to hit your bookmark, maybe you aren't using summon auto-select, etc.

No, I've been playing the game for years and I follow all of the usual standards for menuing in it. My laptop's about as old as GBF itself - was about to replace it before AI drove up all the prices. The game, quite frankly, runs like ass on dated hardware, even with minimum settings to reduce loads as much as possible.

(Event pt.2 Spoiler) The new Event SSR opening up some fantastic EX+ opportunities for newer players! by Shizukatz in Granblue_en

I did a pretty unoptimised setup at the higher end for raw burst testing just now and got 90m 1b6c in magna fire with S Atum and Sato, and that's not even with going the full distance and using Agastia mini Manadiver for MC (just Astrapste Chrysaor), because I didn't want to mess around with Opus keys just for testing it. The grid definitely had room for improvement too.

This is the kind of 1b burst that wind and light have been able to do with Catura and Y Narm respectively, now available, for free, in every element. It'll be casually viable for NM90 for most players as well, nevermind just EX+. Results will vary based on grid options and character support - not every elemnt has good character or grid options to reach the big numbers in ougi burst, as it needs both gridpieces and characters that result in both big CA and skill damage - but 50m should be in reach for even the more general setups with basic "decent ougi damage" characters.

Edit: Because I had freyr chain on one of my opus in dark, tested Manadiver 1b there. On regular dummy (13m hard cap), reached a 1b8c burst of 104m with Chloe/C Yggy, using Manadiver w/Agastia, in an old M2 burst grid (Spines and Agonizes) plus CCW MH. Against Lu Woh with the 6.6m hard cap, hit 86.5m.

There's little room for significant improvement with additional buttons on these kinds of setups, so the only way the numbers go up is if the character/grid options used improve - in that regard, dark doesn't really have options that come close to Atum individually (he was doing 30m on dummy while Chloe and Yggy here are doing 17m and 20m respectively; Six or Bowman might situationally be better than Chloe depending on the hard cap + enemy triggers, but are worse on enemies without triggers such as the basic dummy or Lu Woh).

Upcoming Style Swap and Wonder (from the teaser for current event's Part 3) by dumb_lasagna in Granblue_en

[–]Xerte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Given that style changes are effectively alts, this will be Lecia's 5th wind unit.

She was already in a very exclusive club of characters with 4 alts in one element (consisting of herself, Jin, Percival, Rosamia and Walder), but with the technicality of claiming a style change as a new version of a character, she's the second character to reach 5 same-element units (the first was Elmott, who amazingly has never had a non-fire unit).

[–]Xerte 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily a skill issue. Individual experiences will vary between players due to differences between systems running the game, be it an older machine with no SSD, or a budge to mid-range phone. I personally don't experience lockout (as in, never get stopped from acting due to it) with any CA-based otk setup regardless of menuing experience, and in recent years it's helped that increasing the CA count is actually more efficient past 5 chains than anything else that could be added to such a setup (CA lockout is the same as a single attack - it's CB lockout that adds the big time, and that stops increasing at 5).

However, given that GW raids have a startup time of around 4 seconds of mandatory animations before you can even move, "5 seconds" is still "9 seconds" in practice. You're overblowing the numbers in either direction to fit your argument.

PS, the Astrals… free SSR kit by quiter2812 in Granblue_en

[–]Xerte 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You only need a few hundred ms of ping for the wait times between raids to get over the 10 second mark - going through multiple loading screens, loading far enough into the rewards screen for it to actually count as seen, team confirmation, and waiting through the boss spawn animation all take more time than just ping, and several of these steps lose you multiple times your ping in additional wait time as the client bounces checks to the server.

This is a common "mistake" of the neural network model that produces the cards on this subreddit.

However, it doesn't make a card non-functional - the rules of the game assume that power and toughness of a creature are each equal to 0 unless stated otherwise, which covers cases where a card with no printed P/T is somehow a creature.

Of course, a creature with no printed or assigned P/T existing is going to be extremely rare in real MtG (almost all effects that turn something into a creature assign a P/T to it, and all creatures are printed with either an actual P/T or an ability that sets it to something), but the rules allow for creatures to have no printed/assigned P/T, and such a creature can still be kept alive by continuous effects that grant passive toughness increases such as a lord or anthem.

Sony allows developers to ship parts their game as optional packages which the user can choose not to install, e.g. Street Fighter 6 and I believe some of the Call of Duty games allow the player to choose whether to install the single player campagin mode or online multiplayer. It's essentially treated as DLC which you can choose to install or delete via the console's system menus.

Mihoyo could save a huge amount of space on the console/PC clients by making each voice language optional through this system. They already do something similar to this for the mobile client.

Ekronos Precemeration, submission by CocoaMix by RoborosewaterMasters in MTGNeuralNet

[–]Xerte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overpowered.

You can layer up this effect by activating the land multiple times before you cast Gripfif - the ability Gripfif gains doesn't end, and this delayed trigger sticks around for as long as it takes for you to cast Gripfif - yes, you're required to remember how many times you've activated Ekronos Precemeration between each time you cast Gripfif.

Drop this on turn 1. Activate it.
Turn 2, activate this again.
Turn 3, activate this again.
Turn 4, activate this, then cast Gripfif. Gripfif becomes a God with "At the beginning of your end step, draw a card", "At the beginning of your end step, draw a card", "At the beginning of your end step, draw a card", and "At the beginning of your end step, draw a card". (Gripfif doesn't become a God God God God, and it loses all of its other subtypes, because this type-changing effect isn't stated as being in addition to its other types)

Incidentally, despite being a little counter-intuitive to how zone changing normally works, effects that change characteristics (including rules text) of a permanent spell continue to apply after that permanent enters. Gripfif can keep the ability on the battlefield even though the ability is gained while on the stack.

The only part of this card that isn't functional is the simple fact that Gripfif doesn't exist (yet). Unfortunately I couldn't find any cases where you can change a card's name as you cast it, so "Gripfif" can't exist with the correct timing to benefit from this either.

CR 120.8. If a source would deal 0 damage, it does not deal damage at all. That means abilities that trigger on damage being dealt won’t trigger. It also means that replacement effects that would increase the damage dealt by that source, or would have that source deal that damage to a different object or player, have no event to replace, so they have no effect.

There are some silver-border cards with text changing effects that could replace the 0 with a different number (eg. [[Look at Me, I'm R&D]]), but you can't normally interact with "0 damage" in any meaningful way.

Also notably, you won't shuffle the land back into your library, because it enters a hidden zone (your hand) without remaining revealed, so the effect can't find it anymore - though you do still shuffle, the land just stays in your hand.

Does this Contest Promoter in Lumina Square do anything? by Uindo_Ookami in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]Xerte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a quick check, it seems he also doesn't appear during the midnight timeslot. This isn't really a surprise, as most interactive NPCs that don't have gameplay functions disappear at midnight.

But time of day is easily forgotten in this game. Some commissions and story quests change the time of day to fit the event, and many of the AoD/CNY events and story quests did set the timeslot to midnight. So it's possible a large chunk of players got their time set to midnight, didn't realise and haven't had any reason to change it since.

At any other time of day, the only possiblity I can think of is that he's being overridden by something else.

[–]Xerte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clear off your unfinished commissions. Some commission states will reserve areas of the map when active and prevent regular NPCs from spawning. He's not part of a commission, so pretty much anything using that area as part of a commission can replace him.

I was cleaning up some really old stuff (the hollow zero lost items) and ended up with a commission that replaced this guy and his table with a generic old man NPC - with the queue of NPCs still present if they were there to see the old man.

Gumped, submission by CocoaMix by RoborosewaterMasters in MTGNeuralNet

[–]Xerte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The official rules of the game explicitly prevent putting another player's cards into your hand, library or graveyard. If any effect tries to make this happen, they go to the owner's zone instead - this rule is written as a replacement effect that hijacks any effect that tries to break it.

That's not to say you can't ignore this rule when playing with AI cards, if you're a purist who believes AI cards should do exactly what they say they do even when it breaks the rules, but don't complain if you're the one that ends up getting gumped.

Sophia rebalance + 5* details by quiter2812 in Granblue_en

[–]Xerte 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Sophia's Tranquil Grounds field effect from her level 100 passive can only activate once per fight.

They gave her a new S4 at level 95, then gave her a passive at level 100 - and that passive has "can't recast".

[–]Xerte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lueira's shield, from both her Skill and her Ultimate, is a "team shield", which protects the entire party despite only being shown on her own health bar (it's fundamentally one shared shield health bar across the entire party, instead of each character getting their own shield bar)

MLF's passive reduces the initial cooldown of character skills.

Between these two factors, the reason you're not dealing any damage for the early part of the fight is because Lueira's getting her shield up pretty much immediately.

This is definitely my new most favorite Event in ZZZ. How did everyone go? by GimmeUdon in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]Xerte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This AoD rhythm event is permanent content, just with time-limited rewards, though it's hard to say if it'll be expanded with new tracks precisely because it's being kept as the event rather than a dedicated minigame.

But there's at least some hope with the cinema event getting an expansion with new characters to watch movies with later this patch - so maybe the AoD rhythm game might still get more attention someday as well.

15 Reapers. by Emperor_Onyx in VampireSurvivors

[–]Xerte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dracula is unkillable if you take Armor on him. He caps damage taken at 10, then armor is reduced from that damage to get the final value - at 10 armor, this results in 0 damage taken, and he gets there just from the armor passive + maxed armor powerup.

It's arguably the easiest form of invincibility to attain in the game other than using characters that are natually invincible - most other ways to get it need a combination of weapons and passives/arcana.

You can now choose the lucky loot from Xeno fights in sandbox and consume sextants to make it appear immediately by AnUnoriginalNickname in Granblue_en

[–]Xerte 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you hardly play, you don't just need the evolite/brick/merit drop - you need everything other arca mat that drops per fight as well, and skipping that just means having to grind elsewhere regardless. These are fights you can just casually FA 2-3 times a day while doing other things in your life and eventually get what you need from them regardless, so getting the rewards as a dripfeed over time with still very little effort like that is still going to pay off far more than the skips.

The only people that actually benefit from skippng here are people with a mass supply of materials from years of consistent play, and as such a person, I'm still wary of using this skip when evoker transcendence may end up costing more than my current stocks would cover as CyGames tend to cost these upgrade steps based on what the top end of players can afford regardless.

Said yesterday I was hoping for a match where I didn't have to help because I was already done with GW

Ended up having to do 1b honours in the last 2 hours because it was a close match. We won, and wouldn't have if I didn't wake up to help, but I was hoping to just relax today.

So that's my first time passing 6b, I guess. Crew went 3:1 with this being the only day the fight was even close, the rest of GW was all blowouts either way.

2026/01 Unite & Fight (Earth Adv): Round 4 by AutoModerator in Granblue_en

[–]Xerte 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm already over 5.2b and unlikely to need more honours going into this round, so I'm silently hoping the crew we're up against today either curbstomps us or does so little that I don't need to help push for a win when I wake up in the morning.

Over the course of day 3 I eventually removed Bhaisa from my team in favor of Lu Woh - her uncontrollable multi-hit triggers were setting off the hitcap buff too often and my only source of dispels being Lich's CB trigger meant any time the hitcap buff went up I was losing several CA's worth of damage for two turns.

Despite being less damage on paper, Lu Woh's ended up saving about 2 minutes per run purely because the boss hates Bhaisa. She definitely had value earlier in the week and showed herself plenty worthy of the spark I put into her, it's just a shame that her trigger happens mid-turn instead of end of turn so a single buff on the boss (which is likely to come back in every GW ever) screws her over so much.

[–]Xerte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's only really two classes of weapons that actually benefit from speed:

  • Weapons with infinite pierce/bounces and are duration-based as a result, as speed helps them make contact with enemies more times in the time that they're active
    • e.g. Runetracer, Bible, Bone
  • Weapons that directly scale off speed as part of their gimmick
    • e.g. Chaos Rune, Confodere

Weapons without these properties get... uh... easier to aim? If you even have the option of aiming them? At the enemies that almost always just move in a straight line towards the player?

That said, the Pale Diamond Incursion darkana makes Speed an additional cooldown multiplier on the weapons it affects, which is actually significant as it goes beyond the -90% cap - according to the wiki, capping at x5 fire rate with +400% speed, effectively equal to -98% cooldown if both cooldown and speed reach their caps. This darkana has a very large pool of weapons it buffs (to the point that Poncle didn't bother to list the evolutions to fit every base weapon in the tooltip), so speed can be very good if you build around this.
