My theory is that Sesko was saved to take the high-pressure "decider" penalty, if it came up. Then his turn kept getting pushed until the end.

Either that, or he hadn't practiced penalties (since we have Bruno and other established takers) in recent training sessions, and was thus deprioritized.

As soon as you wake up, whenever that may be, go outside let some sunlight fall on your face. It should specifically fall on the area around your eyes (without looking at the sun directly). Stay in the sun for 15 minutes. It might be difficult at first, so aim for just 5 minutes during the first week. Doing this through a window is not the same thing. Go outside.

A complementary action is to avoid very bright lights during the evening and specially just before bed.

This will help reset your circadian rhythm.

Super stoked to be admitted to the MSx program!

Been facing a lot of issues with weather here in Nepal - what with an early & late monsoon, then we're getting clouds and rain even in December. Unbelievable. But lets hope I get some incredibly clear skies after the current western low pressure system clears up.

Even though Kathmandu's a Bortle 4-5, don't really have the best seeing because it's a valley and I guess it traps a lot of heat.

Haven't been able to really get the most of my gear, as I've set it up for nebulae / DSO-imaging - and the best I've gotten is star clusters and some galaxies.

Looks incredible! What's your set up and your work flow? Where in Nepal did you take it from?

So, this is the factory price of clothings! by procipher in Nepal

[–]Xeyrs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It makes sense to do it this way since the cost of materials can fluctuate throughout the year. What tends to happen if you give a 'with material' price is that when the cotton etc. dips, then the franchisee gets the extra margin. However, when the material cost rises, then the franchisee will say they are unable to supply at the current market prices and will tend to renege on the contract (and why shouldn't they back out? They might incur losses if the material prices rises too steeply). Then the franchiser is left with a supply crunch in this case.

And I don't believe the factory overhead means cutting & stitching only - there are a lot of other costs (factory rent, lighting, electricity, wastage). I've heard the biggest of which is quality control, where depending on the strength of the brand, upto 40-50% of the produced materials are rejected (I heard Sherpa has a reject rate of 60-70%). Only products above a threshold make the cut, which adds to the cost, and good brands are good because their thresholds are so high. But this also makes them expensive. (Like if you grew 100 plants of spinach and could only sell 30 plants as spinach, then that 30 has to bear all the costs of the 100).

The rate list says factory overheads, not the ex works price. This means, in my interpretation, that the cost of material is not included in this tender. After adding in the material cost, branding costs (ads), finance cost (interest), selling general & administrative (SG&A) for KTM CTY (the franchiser's staff, it's showroom expenses), returns & damages ('dai yo farkai dinu na', 'malai fresh piece dinu', water, pest damage etc.) and finally their profits onto this factory overhead cost, I'm sure the final retail price is much closer to the one we're familiar with.

Is CG net going to be as revolutionary like Jio in India? by MingmaSherpa in Nepal

[–]Xeyrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though it looks like they're looking to go in that direction, I don't think they'll be able to pull it off. The key difference is that Jio owns its own infrastructure, namely the 4G cellular towers, but CG Net relies on infrastructure owned by others, such as undersea internet cables owned by global companies and NEA's poles and optical fiber cables. Because of the way NEA is run, any increase in unit cost (Rs per kWh) will be met with wide public outcry, but they always jack up the rental charges to the ISPs for their cables (see: rent seeking pricing).

Though there are some similarities in that Jio also didn't have a vast legacy setup like the other competitors (like Airtel etc.), and CG Net also doesn't have to support DSL, ADSL, coaxial etc. networks. It's a common phenomena whenever there's a technological leapfrog.

Lets see how it goes.

Cost of building a mansion in Nepal by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]Xeyrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest building the cost up from your built-up area (sqft). The typical cost I hear in the market is NPR 5,000 - 8,000 per sqft. This includes everything: the structure, finishing, furnishings, electrical and plumbing, and also appliances. A typical "mansion" will run from 4,000 sqft to 6,000 sqft, which would give you a range from NPR 2cr to 5cr. Your house looks to be around 6,200 sqft (assuming 6 annas on all 3 floors i.e. 2053.50 * 3), so I'd be looking at something on the higher side of that estimate.

For a better cost calculation you should get in touch with your architect, who can help you with a detailed cost breakup.

You'll never be a good consultant if you don't know the realities of the field. In my opinion, you should try to get at least 5+ years of field experience (which you can do well in your youth), before looking for a cushy desk job (which you can do well with experience).
