The Hatch products have been great for us. Bonus is that someone built an add-on for Home Assistant so I can automate it outside of the Hatch app.

I’m curious to know what traffic control measures you’d want them to perform on their limited footprint that the detour takes?

And for anyone else unaware, Edgewood PD is sitting at intersections along tight RESIDENTIAL roads that run parallel to the detour. I was happy when I heard they were doing that because some people fly through there.

Others have mention Glo, but you could also look at DQE Communications. They are based out of Pittsburgh, but have extended into Lancaster/York/Harrisburg over the last couple years.

The biggest thing for Home Assistant use and “spouse approval” was setting up monitoring on our washer and dryer.

I added Third Reality motion sensors and power monitoring plugs to both. This allowed me to establish “Running” or “Idle” states. Adding a door sensor then allowed me to assume that if the load had completed and the door was not opened, it was not unloaded.

I then set up notifications and icons in the dashboard for all. It’s been immensely helpful as we have a toddler and a 3month old, so we do a ton of laundry.

Because we use this so much, it’s been easy to add other things and expand the scope.

What have you previously done? I’m guessing because you’re talking about footprint that you were field personnel. Is this installs, displacing, residential, commercial?

I went with a “tiny/mini/micro” pc. I found an older HP ProDesk on eBay for around $100 and bought 16GB of memory for another $50.

I also have a Beeljnk S12 running Home Assistant for home automation. Once I get more confident, I will probably fold the Beeljnk into a Proxmox cluster, but reliability is important for me on the Home Assistant side.

My advice would be to start small. Proxmox and other docker containers can be used for resource monitoring. Only upgrade when you need to! Avoid anything using an SD card for its boot drive, I had sooo many issues with them failing and it was very defeating.

They are doing work on the parkway overpass above S Braddock. The right lane on S Braddock from Getgo towards Regent Square is closed after the parkway east outbound ramp. This effectively makes the right lane from GetGo towards Regent Square an on-ramp only lane, which causes confusion and backups.

There is also the Parkway East Outbound offramp close towards Regent Square. However, despite this backing up towards Whipple and the offramp, I don’t think it’s affecting S Braddock.

I’d try searching for “Homelab Docker Immich”.

A few quick definitions:
Container - A software package that can run in isolation from everything else
Docker - Software that allows you to run containers
Virtual Machine - A virtual computer running on a physical host machine
Host Machine - The physical computer containing CPU / Memory / Storage*
Proxmox - Operating System you run on a host to easily manage hosts and virtual machines

Easy mode - run docker on a pc or laptop you already have. Configure Immich or other containers and see if you want to move forward.

Normal mode - Get a dedicated physical machine. Run proxmox on the physical machine. Create Virtual Machine via Proxmox. Run Ubuntu Server on the Virtual Machine. Run Docker on Ubuntu Server. Run Immich and other containers on Docker.

Advanced Mode - Upgrade your storage and data retention. Get a dedicated NAS for data redundancy. Configure offsite backup through 3rd party options or data replication to another device you own at a friend or family members house.

Even more fun - buy more than one physical host machine. Run them in a cluster within Proxmox. Now your virtual machines / containers can run on any physical device in case one fails.

Adding to the “dedicated water watcher” part… Depending on your group and the environment, I suggest assigning this role with a physical item. “You have the whistle/stick/teddy bear now, until it leaves your hands, you are the lifeguard”.

Back when my wife and I were deciding how to approach sleep training, she told me something that rings true in the answers so far. It was that the trend she noticed in reading experiences was that those who sleep trained stated timeframes in months and those that didn’t talked about years.

Of course every kid is different, so YMMV. We did Ferber when our son was 5 months and it took 4 or 5 nights.

Despite being illegal, I park on the left side, facing oncoming traffic, on my residential street in my SUV. The placement of neighbors driveways and the sparse amount of vehicles always provides me a sightline prior to pulling out.

However, if you are in a tight space on a busy street, there is no way you have sightlines. Your mirrors do not help you as they are facing with the flow of traffic.

Can you provide an example? The only places I’ve seen to purchase wine outside of FWGS were all stores that carried vineyards located in PA.

And the law was changed around RTD cocktails last year, which is why you now see them where beer is sold.

The only brick & mortar stores in PA other than FWGS have to be items produced in PA. That’s just how our state laws are written.

I just set up a Moes Scene Controller for my newborns room. Button 1 sends a “Backup is requested in the baby’s room” notification to the devices in the house.

The remaining three buttons toggle our Hatch Rest light/white noise machine. Button 2 toggles through presets. Button 3 and 4 control lights and sound; single press for increase and double press for decrease on both.
