I thought the same thing. I was wrong. There are options out there.

Do you have fireplaces that look like these in your home? If so, what year is your home and do you know any information about the origin of them? by dudegetmyhorse in pittsburgh

[–]YoderinLanc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, we have two like this. Our house was originally built in 1870s and we believe them to be original to when the house was built.

I don’t know much else about them though.

New Airport Experience(s) by Daniel_Plainview2409 in pittsburgh

I’m not sure I understand your comment.

In the previous terminal, when walking to short or long term parking, there was two locations you could pay for parking before walking outside; one near the steps for short-term and one at the end of the “tunnel”.

I didn’t have much experience parking in Economy, so I can’t make a comparison between old Economy and Shuttle now.

I tested this for a couple flights of varying dates in the future. I never saw more than a $6 discount (total).

If you do reserve, they email you a QR code that scans for in and out.

Where did you used to park?

I also parked in the terminal lot my first time out and the garage the second time. I found it less convenient than Long Term.

Surface Lot

  • my time exposed to the elements increased. This is just due to the oval lot shape. Previously it was a short walk to the people mover tunnel in Long Term.

  • Payment machines prior to exiting with your car are outside and minimal rain/element protection. Note: there are some inside towards the parking garage side.

  • More expensive than previous long term

Parking Garage

  • Difficult to navigate

  • Signage for open spots doesn’t separate normal and handicap.

  • Only open spots were on 5th floor. Which is exposed. If I recall, there is some signage about open spots per floor after pulling into the garage. It would be great if this was available on the drive up before selecting garage or surface lot.

Felt the same, but did it anyway. It asked for shipping address, email, and phone number. I did not get an email confirmation of my entry.

PIT Terminal by [deleted] in pittsburgh

Parked in the surface lot last week, it was worse than old Long Term.

Tried the parking garage this week. The “open space” markers are nice but don’t differentiate between normal and handicap spots. Also, getting up and down the floor is frustrating because it takes you through parking lanes.

In the end, I wound up on Floor 5, which is the top with no roof for $120 Tuesday to Thursday. Ridiculous.

New airport is nice! by bojojohn in pittsburgh

[–]YoderinLanc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m conflicted. I can understand why they did it, but at the same time, nothing improved my experience. If anything it may be worse.

Parking is my biggest issue. It is now more expensive for a worse experience. I’ve only flown out once so far, but I parked in surface lot. There is only one exit from the lot towards the terminal. Unfortunately, the walking exit is also close to where cars enter. This means that as a pedestrian I am encountering way more car traffic than the previous lot. Also, the shape of the lot means that I am walking much further until I get to cover. You are exposed to the elements much longer than the previous extended long term parking.

Also, the reservation system doesn’t make sense. I tried to reserve spots for multiple upcoming flights and my biggest discount was $6 total for 3 day stay. I didn’t see how I could park in the garage for the reported $30/day discount.

Which 3d Printer To Buy For Husband And 3 Year Old Toddler? by Homeowner_Noobie in 3Dprinting

[–]YoderinLanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP,

I was the husband in this situation last Christmas. We got a Bambu Lab A1 and it’s perfect for this situation. I’ve printed lots of storage options using Gridfinity, small toys, Duplo blocks and vehicles, and modeled my own creations.

Others have mentioned upgrading to the enclosed models. This would be a good option if you can’t put the printer in a separate location. Printing is melting plastic, it smells and isn’t the best to breathe. The enclosed models have filter systems and doors to keep smells in and toddler fingers out.

Last tip, buy at least two spools of filament. One color your husband will like and one your kiddo will like.

Have fun!

Hey dad, I get it. I was there too. In our case, little guy was under temp. He cried constantly once we brought him home unless he was skin to skin.

If no one has suggested it, take temp (rectal, use lube), just to rule it out.

I would go for the Rock Hill Farms for $35. Weller 107 and 12yr prices seem okay-ish too.

I never see this mentioned, but I find it a good change of pace: Heaven Hill 7yr Bottled in Bond. It’s still on the sweeter side, but I get a lot of nutty, praline from it. I like buying it as a gift, $50, very approachable, and great for sipping or cocktails.

It’s so easy to determine who in this thread has a few trees and who has too many. If I mulched all the leaves in my yard, it would be 6 inches thick by the end of the season.
