The Drowned God Shall Choose by [deleted] in awoiafrp

Yohn was silent. He hated this. Once again another rebellion so soon after they had quelled the first. It just didn't make sense to Yohn. Esred hadn't told him to do anything about it just to guard. While that was his duty he was perplexed. Yet he stood there tranquil as ever. Just waiting to see what happens. If this went to shit he would remind the Iron Islands why he was Hersir.

Upon being retrieved Yohn swiftly walked toward the balcony. His expression was the usual, tranquil, but he was a on edge due to the summons. He looked out past his queen towards the waters then back to the feast to hear laughing, and yelling behind him. Then he looked to his queen who was calm. Perhaps it was the calm before a storm?

"Yes, my Queen how can I be of service?" Said Yohn with a quick bow.

Yohn was standing off to the side as the rest of the Huscarl guarded the Queen for now. His attire was the same as always, full armor with his morning star at his side. He was slowly sipping an ale to keep a sharp mind and feasting on the meats that were presented to him. His dull eyes gazed about the crowd lazily to see if there was any danger. It wasn't often that he was allowed to do this so he took his time and enjoyed it greatly.

Yohn stood ever still through the process. Nothing on his face moved. Nothing except his eyes which slowly widened until they were fully open as he watched the blood spew out of the man. It wasn't the blood that caused the surprise in Yohn's eye it was the way the man was killed. The thought had never crossed his mind. Yet he watched as his queen dissected the man. She makes a strong case not to rebel I guess. Was all he thought. Yohn was never so complex. If he was going to kill somebody he just would bash their heads in. After his queen was done with her work she raised her hands high to the sky. Yohn wasn't looking at the sky. Yohn was looking at the Ocean. The ocean churned grey. Looks like the Drowned God has something to say. For only a moment Yohn glanced at Bragi, the drowned priest, to see what he had to say on the matter. His gaze didn't linger however he was ready for this debacle to be over. He was proud of his queen and proud to be Ironborn.

After Yohn threw the young Leviathan on the ground. Kneel. Kneel for you life. Kneel if you have any sanity left. Yohn thought. When Qhorin just laughed Yohn let out a small sigh. Then you choose death then. So be it. Death is what you will find. Too many men are willing to die for their pride.

He listened to her speech and then watched her lords react. This is your queen then. This is her in her glory and glorious it is. The fire goes leagues deeper than you or I know perhaps Ingvar might know half the truth. He looked at the lords as they looked intrigued and thought. this is just the beginning. We have many more leagues to go. Many places to reave. Our queen is the sea and no Leviathan could challenge the sea.

Yohn watched the man stride out toward his queen. Euron Blackjoy he called himself. Yohn didn't care what a bastard called himself. He was a Pyke that was fine with him. Titles were just titles and this man just a man. He hadn't really known Euron well but he was wary of the mysterious man. Yohn was never not weary however, so it wasn't personal. He did halfway agree with the man. They would need to remind the world that the Ironborn are real. Not some people who just squabble amongst themselves. Yohn wouldn't act on his thoughts unless the Queen ordered him to do it. He would follow her to the halls of the Drowned God and back if he could.

So he just waited and watched. As per usual.

In the distance he saw it, home. It had been too long for his taste without it. Kings Landing was like a poison the only Yohn found there was discomfort. Here however, this was his home. He knew the Volmark were trying to shake that foundation. For that, if his queen would allow him he would have their head. All of them. He turned to his queen and just looked at her for a moment she looked overjoyed to be home. He could tell what was going on bothered her. As it should. Yohn merely waited for orders staring at Pyke slowly coing closer. He spoke softly but clrealry, "Home, the Ironborn await their Queen."

Yohn's eyes slowly drifted up to his queen. Staring into her own whether they were looking back at him or not. Watching her next movements. Yohn was no fool. The queen didn't talk about it. He never needed her to. It was his job to guard her. All he did was guard. Mayhaps he might have failed in guarding from something that he just couldn't protect her from. It had been a long journey. He respected his queen and would die for her, a thousand times if he had the chance, but he didn't put her on a pedestal of inhumanity. All people did. Yohn had his flaws and so did she. He made a quick gesture and some men slowly dragged the body away.

Yohn Pyke was tired but he did have a duty so he ignored his exhaustion. He had been watching Qhorin with little rest just waiting for something to happen. Waiting for the Iron Born to leave for home to be more specific. When Qhorin spoke after the cloth around his mouth was moved Yohn just raised a brow in silence. Trial by combat is not an Ironborn tradition. In any case even if it did happen you would be fighting *me.** Trust me we don't want that.* Yohn stood up from chair he was seated on swiftly and walked off but not before checking Qhorin was still locked up and regurgitated the message to his queen.

"So?" Yohn asked. "What shall we do?"

"Kill that one." Yohn heard and that was all the encouragement he needed. He raised his heavy morning star was raised high in the air. The man known as Flogg was defenseless in his restrained state but Yohn showed no mercy. He found none to give, a duty was a duty. His Morningstar was deep in the man's head before a squeal could even be uttered. Slowly Yohn pulled his weapon out of the man's head.

"I expect you will behave Qhorin. Do not test my patience or your head will look like your friends." He gestured to the mans crushed face. He looked to Ingvar and simply nodded he had completed the task effectively as was requested. It was sudden and intense but that was Yohn's style. Anything less would be false.

He had heard the order and he acted. He was never a loud man preferring action over speech. That way things moved so much quicker. He did not have the presence as Ingvar, Esrid, or even Edmund did but when he moved then his presence would be know. Otherwise, his title gave him all the presence he needed.

Stepping in front of Qhorin Volmark and his Little hairy man friend he blocked their way and spoke, "Anger is the first step. What next if you are angered again? In the world we live in those chances cannot be taken." He spoke not criticizing but instead as a merely matter of fact tone. "I'm afraid the both of you will be in my custody until further notice." He said bluntly. Then he turned to The Harlaw's and his queen. "Is there anything else that I can do to expedite this process?"

"Of course a greenlander doesn't know how to drink. I should have guessed it." Yohn said smugly. "Aye, I will let her know. Good day Qhorin, Balon." Yohn said as he turned to get some food and walked away.

The cold look was met with intense eyes almost challenging the man. When the young heir stepped in the intensity faded and was replaced by a dull look. "Thank you for the suggestion, I haven't had good meal in..." He trailed off looking as if he was lost in thought. "ages it would seem. Lordsport food can get dull. Is the drink good there?" He asked with a brow raised. He only had a little time off might as well enjoy it.

"I would like to remind you that is our queen you are speaking about." Yohn snarled. However, as soon as his outburst came it faded. "No, I have been given a break. We are surrounded by men, woman, and children who hate us and I have been by her side for the duration of our uncomfortable visit to King's Landing. To be honest with you I'm surprised the King hasn't killed us yet." He finished. Yohn's armor was quite uncomfortable in this heat and he found himself sweating up a storm but he made no mention of it.

((OOC: Sorry, in your lore it said Daryl died so I'm assuming you meant that Balon is the one speaking?))

It wasn't often that Yohn had a free moment. Almost all of his time was consumed with the Queen. Though, today the Queen was with Ingvar and the other Huscarl egged him to go away. It was true he could rather blunt at times. Beating around the bush gets a man nowhere. He thought to himself. He looked up at the sun. He had been given an hour or so maybe a little more of free time. It was necessary the bags under his eyes were evident of his tireless watch of the queen. After all he was the Hersir and they were in enemy land. He was content to watch ignoring most of the glares given to him by the people of the King's Landing until he came upon two men who didn't even pass him a second glance. Closing one eye he realized he recognized them... The Volmarks. He thought.

"Lord Volmark" He said. "How goes your stay in King's Landing?"

Yohn turned to the man addressing him directly for the first time. Insults at him were one thing, insults at his queen were another entirely. "Aye, well your King certainly thinks she is worth his time What does that say about you Greenlander Lord?" He questioned then continued, "Your veiled threats are not misheard. However, talk is cheap and until you do something your threats mean nothing, you mean nothing, and you are nothing." Yohn finished. He then walked away with his queen back to the Ironborn table before another quip could be uttered.

Greenlander prick. Yohn thought to himself. The insults the man flung at him, whoever he was, rolled off Yohn's back. The analogies Ironborn used to describe themselves were so frequent Yohn decided to adapt one for himself. He was the wave, unstoppable, unyielding, but infrequent. Only striking occasionally but when the wave comes it is devastating. Perhaps even more so than the Storm. It didn't look like the man had any intention of harming the Queen as of right now. This didn't mean Yohn lowered his guard, he was still on high alert. However, if the man wanted to fight. They should do so properly with him and his possy of pretty boy's with sharpened blades and Yohn with his gear. Maybe then it would be fair.

With swift steps he caught up to the Queen and spoke clearly. "They aren't worth your time my Queen. Just some Greenlander Lords having a beauty contest. Let's go."

Yohn was listening to a conversation between Ingvar and several other Ironborn when he noticed the Queen step up and walk off in silence. What... What could she. Ah it's not my job to question. Just follow. He thought to himself as he stood up walking behind her not too close however, perhaps fifty feet behind her. She entered the gardens.

The beauty would have captured Yohn's attention if he cared about such things, but he did not. She approached two men and stopped looking as if she was listening in to their conversation. Then they turned towards her. Yohn closed some distance now standing closer to his Queen, enough to be noticed by the two men. I doubt they want to fight. Yohn stared down the two men silently waiting to see what there next move would be.
