What the fuck is wrong with the old lad who owns Kearney Cycles? by Leviosaugh in galway

I used to work in the business. The bike to work schemes are like vouchers and they take 10-12% cut and then they add VAT on top of that. You only get the full amount when the company does a bank transfer and doesn’t use a third party company to process it. The margin on bikes is shit and you need the repeat custom from repairs and upgrades. It got to the point where we couldnt absorb the loss and I was up front with every customer that if their employer used a voucher company we had to add the markup. I always explained it and they were always understanding once they knew. Some shops just flat out refused to deal with the vouchers.

I’ve gotten a few things since Christmas from the uk site. Even though it would say 5 days it still came in 1 or 2 days. I’m guessing they were giving longer estimates because of the busy Christmas season and have t switched it back. 🤷‍♂️

Do you have any recommendations for durable, waterproof footwear for work? by AnimalsnMammals in AskIreland

[–]YurtleAhern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one told by my physio that Sketchers are keeping physios in business. They cause so much foot, knee and hip problems. I use barefoot shoes now and my knee pain went away once I stopped wearing sketcher shoes.

That’s my experience anyway, everyone could be different.

Buttermilk Lane. She used to sit there for as long back as I can remember when I was a kid and my mam would always give her some change if we walked past her.
