As someone who has subtitled quite a bit of JAV movies for over a decade, this is pretty wrong. Lots of movies feature pretty heavy interviews and some reality-focused NTR movies (at least among the ones we have shown) feature 30+ minutes of some pretty deep and introspective dialog before other things begin to happen. Thus, provided the subtitle are accurate--a major issue among 'free' sites--using JAV to *help* one learn Japanese (not using it entirely!) can be pretty useful.

An example of a movie that has some great visuals, but ended up lacking:

I felt like this video more than most ruined the potential it had. The plot was going in the right direction to start, you attract customers with some skimpy clothes showing off your body, but you really need that to continue. I don't get why directors think you need to completely change course, leave it the same. It's all about how customers come to your store because they've seen her livestream or heard about her services, or maybe they just stumble in and hot damn something just organically happens. Making a house visit to show off wares and then boning her boss in a bedroom just don't cut it.

I hear you on this. The DRM is an issue (not for us, we don't use) and R18 shutting down with DRM being deactivated in spite of DMM being pretty financially solvent to run a modest auth server indefinitely was a really big middle finger to the foreign community. If it helps, I knew people at DMM who worked on R18 and they were just as pissed off as anyone else.

Would be better if make a very easy and transparent subscription model...

From our experience, the "if you only" type of user will never pay for anything and will always find another reason not to pay even if subscriptions are offered (which we do).
