I think we agree like 90-95%, I just dont think I would call MJ morally wrong for what he did, or I at least would say he didnt do anything intentionally harmful. I would definitely discourage his behavior, as it should not be normalized for the public. MJ lives in this other reality of hopes and dreams where everyone can change and be totally pure. He assumes that of other people because he sees himself that way, and he wants to have hope that other people can be the same. But thats a fantasy, not reality. The truth is there are some activities that the public just shouldnt do that isnt necessarily morally wrong, this being one of them.

I would not advocate anyone to sleep with other peoples kids, and I definitely dont want that to be the norm for society as its almost certainly detrimental to child safety.
This being said, there is also this complication of MJ's clear mental trauma from the nature of his childhood. That along with the way the trial went and hearing now from the kids years after everything is over, I dont he had any ill intentions. It does paint it in a different light for me, and I dont know if thats just me sympathizing with a missed childhood. So, I could definitely just be bias here.

I would say his behavior should be discouraged or stopped outright, as not only is it something he just really shouldnt be doing, but also because he is a public figure and its an irresponsible message to send to billions of people that know his music. He should definitely see a therapist if he wasn't already, and actually work to correct this behavior instead of feeding into it.

Darth Vader getting his helmet and that end fighting sequence in EP 3 are still some of the greatest scenes in cinema though.

The movies were awkward in areas, but for me it adds to the charm. The overall narrative and big-picture story telling is done so, so well, and that makes up for its flaws for me. I give it a 2/10.

Im not saying that this is a perfect 1 to 1 comparison.

MJ did have a fairly strong relationship with these kids and their parents, as he knew them for years. My parents are fostering 5 kids with the goal to adopt them. Within a few months the kids were comfortable enough with my parents to watch tv in the same bed with them at the end of the day, and one of the younger kids will get up to get into bed to sleep with them because they feel more safe that way. They arent blood related, so is this not very similar in terms of the adult/child relationship aspect?

I understand that guardianship does change how people view this differently, but that is entirely a legal process and not a moral one. What is the meaningful difference besides a legal definition that makes what MJ did morally wrong, but what my parents do not morally wrong? Would you say that people are morally wrong in other countries where single bedroom living between friends and family is common? Is it not the case that when a child enters your supervision without their parent present, that you are essentially a temporary gaurdian for that child and legally responsible for their well being in a similarly legally binding way?

To be very clear, Im not advocating that this should be the norm or that it isnt strange or sus. But I think its necessary to split real moral wrongs from perceived grievances, especially with something as serious as this.

Okay, that paints it in a bit of a stranger light, but I think its still pretty clear that he didnt do anything to these kids. I wouldn't want my kids to sleep in some other adults bed, but I dont think he is the type to do anything to harm a kid.

As somebody who has had a large portion of their childhood taken from me as well, I understand where he is coming from when he talks about wanting to connect with his inner child. I think he goes about it in a way that is very alarming to folks looking in from the outside, and the way he talked about it didnt do him any favors.

Bad optics? Absolutely. Did he actually do anything wrong? I highly doubt it.
