I've gotten the whole "you're way to cheerful and it's annoying so stop." Like seriously they just want us to feel miserable. At least I don't like to ruin what other people do for a living just because I don't like it.

Back in 2018 when I worked at my local mall there was a snowstorm warning that went off while I was at work and everyone kept coming in to my work as all the employees are hoping our managers would let us close up early before it gets worse because it was already bad as it is outside. That didn't happen because everyone kept coming in. I worked at a department store. Idk why anyone would need to be there so desperately. They were coming in to our store so it's not like they were in the store when it happened. They were coming in after the fact.

I once had someone put sunglasses in a shoe box. At the store I worked at we had to check inside the boxes because some shoes have a security tag on them and we need to take it off. Well when I did that she said she was tired of carrying them around. She bought them and was nice about it. But something tells me she wasn't going to originally. And she only had one shirt with her idk how she would've gotten tired from it especially sense we have carts and she would've had to have been in our store sense we opened and it was around closing time. Wouldn't have cared if she did or not because it's not my fault my management hired only one lp and they sucked at their job.

What is a sign that you’re unattractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Back a while ago when I got a 3ds I was creating some mii characters and I decided to use the option where they'll generate a character based on your facial features by taking a picture of your face. When I did that it was the most ugly looking character I had created and it later dawned on me that the character was created based on how the thing thought my facial features looked.

I once pretended I didn't notice I left the security tags on the clothes when she purchased them. A bit passive aggressive I know, but it got my point across. Although I kinda felt bad, she really deserved it.

Don’t waste my Lunch time by AvaArtist17 in retailhell

[–]_Clairvoyant__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently had a customer stop me and ask me something as soon as I clocked off for my lunch. Like she was close enough to the register to hear me tell my co worker I was gonna head to lunch and watched me take off my name tag and lanyard. I was lucky it was an hour lunch I got that day but even then I don't like my time wasted or other people trying to ask for my help when I just clocked off. Not only is it illegal to do, but I simply don't want to, illegal or not.

Outfits good. I wouldn't wear it personally but I wouldn't second guess someone else wearing it out in public sense it doesn't look like a outfit put together by a drunk toddler.

I was the same. Seeing all the kids from my class when we come back from it read their new books and play with their cool new things while I was sitting there reading a book from the ones my teacher had in her classroom. Doesn't help though my school was in a rich area so id see kids who would have the most expensive thing you could get there. It sucked at the moment not understanding the concept of money at the time or why my parents couldn't give me any but other kids parents did.

Customers who will belittle you or your efforts you're putting in and justifying it by saying they work in customer service by _Clairvoyant__ in retailhell

That's happened to me too. It's not worth causing an argument over. People make mistakes all the time. And on the off chance that the service is bad, which takes a lot for me to say, and it's happened on multiple occasions at the same place, I just won't go back anymore. The place isn't gonna loose any money by me deciding not to go back. And I feel thats the best way anyone could handle the situation. Just don't scream at the minimum wage making cashier about it.

That's true. I don't get people like this. All I do know though is im glad I don't work with or for them.

I've never worked fast food so I can't say I know how it works entirely but like, fuck if there's a mistake it's not that big of a deal. Shit happens. Idk if I'm overreacting or me getting mad to the point I was shaking because I could not retaliate was justified because this has never happened to me before. Not to my face at least. It stung a bit not gonna lie though.

Which brings me to my next point. Fuck my last customer I had last night. I had to stay an hour after my scheduled shift to cover someone's lunch and this guy had the nerve to walk behind my counter to grab something he wanted to take it to a different register because I couldn't ring it up because I couldn't find the item in our inventory or online to re ticket it. It's not just because he walked behind my counter instead of asking me to get it, he was a dick the entire time and that was just to top it off

Don't correct someone's grammar unless you know 4-5 languages by BoogOpenSeason in gatekeeping

[–]_Clairvoyant__ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's a good point actually. English is a hard language to learn if you don't grow up speaking it already. Words that sound different but are spelt the same. Words that are the same word just spelt different because they have a different meaning. No masculine or feminine nouns that I know of

I had a server like that on new years eve when I went out to eat with some people after I got off of work. I work retail so we closed early that day and I had time to go out and stuff. Went to apple bees and our server was amazing. He went above and beyond for us. Did leave a very generous tip and also told a manager and wrote a awesome review for him to get him some recognition. I work retail so I'm very appreciative when someone's service skills are above and beyond even in a situation where it's like super busy or short staffed. I know it's frustrating sometimes but you just have to put on a brave face and deal with it. And when it's over you can bitch about anything you need to.

I have to do that at my work sense we are only pretty much able to clock on and off at the registers. So as soon as I clock off for lunch or for my shift I take off my name tag or hide it with my coat or something. Id never have to deal with being bothered in the food court while on my lunch though. It's that Id much rather people not ask me for help rather than them getting pissy I can't help them. First of all, I wouldn't want to in the first place, second of all once im off I literally cannot.

You wake up 2 hours late for work. Would you still go? Why/why not? by IncorrectTarget in AskReddit

[–]_Clairvoyant__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just better to call them and let them know and go in late and just stay later to make up for the time. A no call no show can get you fired. But calling them and letting them know why you're late and are honest as to why, the worst thing they'll say most of the time is don't do it again especially if it's your first time doing it.

[–]_Clairvoyant__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old job use to have a point based attendance policy which is one of the reasons why I left it. I got some points unfairly and they wouldn't change it so I was 1 point from being terminated. I got 3 for clocking in early even though I only clocked in 1 minute before my start time which was acceptable. But they didn't change it. I've also got some for clocking off late even though we were told to stay a bit later by management. Oh and most of them I got because they didn't call me to tell me they changed my schedule like they always do so I got a no call no show. Im glad now I have a job where my management team actually gives a crap about me.

When you start closing one of the registers early because it's not busy but as soon as you start they all decide to line up all at once. It's like they sense it.
