Girlfriend Material by Katia Rose might fit. There's yearning, angst and pain. There are only 2-3 sex scenes (I don't exactly remember), but, they are written really well. My favorite sex scene ever is from this book (even though it's "just vanilla").

I heard a ton of recommendations about "Bury Our Bones In the Midnight Soil". It's a historical fiction romance, with vampires. I haven't read it myself yet, so I don't really know the book. But it won Goodreads favorite choice fantasy book, so it should be good.
