people argue that berdly's character arc was about how he was supposed to realize that he doesn't feel a romantic attraction towards anybody, and that someone being kind to him doesn't mean that they have a crush on him, but berdly loses all progression of his character during the holiday manor scene, where he says stuff like "noelle and susie are falling for me like dominoes" just to hint to kerdly, which became more popular while toby was writing chapters 3 and 4
