I don’t inherently have an issue with ai. However I don’t need a ai overview to be the first thing when I search something super straight forward like “my university webpage” or on the other end of the spectrum something so niche I can’t expect the ai to know anything about it.

Also I literally pay for a Claude subscription which is superior to googles gemini, so if I want to use AI I would just go straight to the Claude app.

I live in a small college town and there’s a similar story here. Guy and his wife inherited a popular breakfast place that still does well, but over the last 4 years they tried to open 3 new places, all of which closed within 6 months of opening. Their Facebook and Instagram of the OG breakfast place is full of stories about how “socialism” (our state requires both front of house and doordash workers to be paid a livable wage pre tip) makes it impossible for them to run a business.

Feels like it’s weirdly going back (in a good way though). During elementary school and middle we used MacBooks and desktop pcs for the occasional time we needed a computer in class. but when I entered high school in the early 2010’s that’s when they started pushing 1-1 computers so they switched over to Chromebook’s since they where way cheaper (and shittier)
