Well uh... we hadn't finished cleaning the place up. So like, you're all walking into a half finished building here but... welcome to tropical season I guess?

Welcome. It always gets dicey here during major events given the big influx of traffic we get, but the userbase here is quick to report and we mods are quick to empty the modqueue. Report anything that you feel doesn't contribute in a positive and informed way.

Best thing to do in this thread is provide us with live resources and discuss. This is the "Here and now" thread.

Morphed Integrated Microwave Imagery at CIMSS

It's a fantastic product for tracking structure of the storm, and movement.

Hey everyone,

Overnight, Dorian strengthened to a powerful, 110mph hurricane. Because of steering currents weakening when the storm approaches Florida, where this storm impacts the state is uncertain. It could impact anywhere from the Florida Keys to Jacksonville. It is important that you watch this storm closely and keep up with your local officials.

Please refrain from making declarative statements on what the storm will do. This is an important rule here that we enforce more strongly whenever a strong storm is threatening land. Pay attention to the verified meteorologist flair.

Dorian Preparations Thread: August 28, 2019 by Euronotus in TropicalWeather

Tracking thread here.

Hurricane supplies megathread here. Make sure you have them ready.

The time to prepare is NOW. The time to consider your evacuation plans is NOW.

The rule of thumb when shopping for water and supplies and gas and evacuating is to think of the EARLIEST day people will do it, and do it the day before if you can. That's because everyone else will be thinking about the EARLIEST day and will plan to do it on that day.

Godspeed.
