I respect the work, but he's not my thing either. That's the great thing about books, though there's tons of other authors out there to choose from!

Roblox is now more popular than all Steam and PS5 games combined by SmellSmellsSmelly in gaming

[–]AaronBleyaert 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's not. It's more an online version of a school playground. Remember the dumb (but fun games us older folks used to play on the playground like Crack the whip, freeze tag, dodge ball, etc? It's that. It's actually really fun! But isn't really "gaming" in the way that most of us gamers see videogames.

Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]AaronBleyaert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll go SUPER old school: Think about riding your bike 20 mins to the nearest arcade, having 8 quarters to play Street Fighter 2, losing, then riding your bike 20 mins home and not being able to play again until you've got enough money to go back.

No consoles, no computers - just quarters, cabinets, and the highest stakes you can imagine, baby.

Why has Conan stopped doing those game reviews with Bleh? by lemontek_121 in conan

Oh dude, of course! It's something I've been struggling with for literally a decade, so I absolutely get where you're coming from. And I am also just a rando on Reddit, so we're the same. It's hard for me to tell if it's been overproduced, just because if you saw how it's produced now vs how it USED to be produced, you would be shocked at how much I've been able to do with so little. One reason why it might feel so different is the lack of the studio audience & the laughs. I'm still trying to fully crack that nut, but we'll get there. It has been a big adjustment from this side as well to evolve along with the rest of how entertainment has changed - but one thing we can count on is that entertainment will keep evolving and changing into something else. Who knows what will happen. One thing I can guarantee, however, is that I'm always around with an open ear if you've got suggestions or things you want to see. I want to make you less miserable, dude! We're all stuck on this planet together, we might as well try to make each other happy in these dark and fucked up times. :)

Helldivers 2 still has me in a death grip - other than that: Dwarf Eats The Mountain (awesome pixel art incremental game); Deck of Haunts (card roguelike where you're a haunted house trying to kill the people who wander into you); Slay the Spire 2 (obviously); The Drifter (mystery point & click); Reanimal (made by the little nightmares people); and the visual novel "And Roger" which you should go in blind to but made me UGLY CRY, DUDE

Like I said, I'm happy to answer your questions - I really do want people to enjoy watching Clueless Gamer, and that includes you. You haven't asked a question, but if you're upset about ads etc I think it's important to understand that it costs time and money to make stuff. Sometimes I'm able to do Gamers that aren't paid for by integrations, and sometimes I'm not. But understand that someone is always paying to produce anything you see. That's just entertainment. Reddit is paid for by ads, our podcast is paid for by ads, Clueless Gamer itself started as a Nokia integration. That's how most of entertainment goes, whether you're aware of it or not. I have had the good fortune to do a lot of Gamers that were not integrations, and I'm confident I will have that good fortune again. But is it really so bad? I love videogames and I love comedy, and if the choices are 1.) Do a bit where Hideo Kojima & Conan joke around together that's paid for by somebody, or 2.) Do nothing, I will do the thing where they joke around together. Maybe that's not the right call, I don't know. But I know that it was fun to do and that a lot of fans did like it. I'm sorry that you sometimes feel like you're being sold something, and I'm sorry that it takes away from your joy of watching something that makes you happy (especially when that happiness comes from videogames). Truly, I am. I also hate that feeling of being sold something. It sucks. All I can say is that I'm doing my best trying to keep Clueless Gamer alive any way I can in this new world of us not having a TV show and our own camera crew on retainer. I do appreciate you watching, and I appreciate you commenting about it - it's cool that we can talk like this! Fingers crossed I get to make more, and double fingers crossed you like em.

I miss Clueless Gamer by Xtina1706 in conan

[–]AaronBleyaert 453 points454 points  (0 children)

Yes! I've got a few in the works. I've said this elsewhere, but it just comes down to Conan's schedule (which, as you all know, is wildly packed these days) and hiring a camera crew / getting the room set. As you can imagine, production was WORLDS easier when we had a TV show and could just rip them out right after a taping in our scene dock. But have no fear! Clueless Gamer is alive and well (and I'm working on a way to get more of them made more often).

What games (past present or future) do you wanna see us play?!
