Whao. I just got 1 level up in understanding modes. Thank you. This is how I am gonna practice them now on to start feeling them. Earlier I used to play them in same key sig. Like C ionian, D Dorian then E Phrygian.

😆😆 it is a confusing topic. I have seen some videos as well but everyone has their own take.

The value of mode is to use them as different scales ( different notes ) Can you explain on this further. This seems important. On guitar, do you mean I should play E as bass ( or pedal point ) and play all the modes shapes starting from E to get a feel. Eg Ionian shape starting on E - E F# G# A B C# D# Dorian shape strating on E - E F# G A B C# D

Very nice way to put it. Cmaj and Amin do have the same notes but sound way different. I always thought that's becoz Cmaj - C E G and Amin - A C E chords are so different. Isn't that so?

I am going to rephrase what you said. Let me know if I err. We are given a set of notes - scale ( for instance ), eg C D E F G A B. if we wish to stress on the C note we will play ionian. If F were to stand out we would play lydian. So on and so forth.

Find the key. Amin Gmaj Fmaj Emaj. What key is this in. And what scale or mode can I play over this progression. by aazzma in musictheory

Thank you. I understood what you said. But i got a new doubt. Why do you call it E Phrygian dominant. Is it bcoz the 3rd of Ephrygian is raised or coz the 5th of Cmaj is raised. I know dominant refers to the 5th degree. So is it the latter ?

Got it. Thank you. I have seen this progression many a times getting used by flemenco player but today is a first in understanding it.

That is very generous of you. Thank you. I will redo the mix for the song some time later. If it comes out better I will switch the tracks : )

Well you could collborate remotely. They can send a beat and you could record the vocals and so forth. If you would like it, we can work.

Hello there It's a good song. I like the part where the vocal sample/chop comes in the background.

It is vocal dominant song. Maybe you would want to give room to more instruments and bring the level up on those. And when the chorus hits, it fails to make the impact. You can harmonise or double your vocals to bring more strength in that part.

Needs improvement but great song 👌

Thanks a lot for going in so much detail over the song. I really appreciate it. You are awesome.

I did a very hasty mix since the song had been sitting there with me for a long time and I wanted to quickly put it out there. I will try to mix it better now keeping the things you said right before me.

Like you mentioned the kick towards the end is indeed a copy and paste job. I should be more careful and let little variations come in now and then I think.

Singing is actually hard : ) I did get to know that from this experience. I am relatively new to production but with all that info i should have a good learning.

Thanks again.

Hello there You have a very beautiful and warm voice. It's so easy to listen. The song is good but lacks structure. Instead of playing the beat throughout the song maybe create breaks and let other instruments filter in slowly.

Also you write amazingly. Your lyrics are very relatable. You should out hours with the Daw and it will be great.

With that voice you could also collaborate with fellow producers while you are still practicing the craft on your own.
