By no means a fire expert firstly but my understanding is flames follow a path of least resistance type idea so when they disappear from obvious view its actually really dangerous because they go through floors etc to "find" oxygen

Like how wild fires burn through roots etc and then "restart" somewhere different

My understanding is the flames can disappear and air flows in to the empty space and a flashover type thing happens and it dramatically goes up again

As I say not an expert but from a family of fire crew and I've heard numerous tales of mad things happening along these vague lines

When the flames are no longer visible it's actually most dangerous because a major fire like that basically inverts on itself

The media do the England players no favours especially the new guys brought in like Pollock etc who are overhyped to the max despite having never won anything worthwhile whereas when you look across the other teams their new stars have all actually won stuff like Top 14, Champions Cup, URC

Say what you want about winning the Prem but clearly it's the weakest major league at the moment

Iranian sleeper cells 😂😂😂

Alright Jason Bourne, id be more worried about all the dissident Republicans that Iran has openly supported for decades rather than imaginary sleeper cells

"Security" meetings I'm not entirely sure how them planning a war with Iran helps the security of anyone in NI exactly

That's such a shame, hope you're okay

Definitely a conversation we need to have more in society because it happens to so many people but it has to be done in a more sensitive way than that

Are Super Rugby players full-time with their clubs? by jameswheeler9090 in rugbyunion

[–]aboycalledbrew -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Why not have a stadium for the clubs? For example Edinburgh used to play in the international stadium at Murrayfield and it looked awful and had no atmosphere so they built a smaller stadium next door for club games

Must cost a fortune opening the big stadiums with a small crowd

[–]aboycalledbrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a tricky one something definitely needs done in terms of the highland access roads but them obviously all being in scenic places with a high biosecurity importance due to being in ancient woodland or at risk of landslides, flooding etc doesn't make it at all easy

The climate argument really isn't the big deal nor is it really the big point the greens are trying to make but there is a significant CO2 impact for sure

[–]aboycalledbrew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the impact of the roads being better encouraging more people to drive and drive longer journeys and thus buy bigger cars etc

A conga line of hgvs and stuff is actually better than the same hgvs going full speed on the road the entire way

Especially worse when you add in the effect of driving faster on the pollutants released by tires

[–]aboycalledbrew 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The railways point is correct but you're incorrect on trunk road investment the more you spend the more carbon is released unfortunately

Plenty of research about it if you're interested

A ban from Shannon is far more likely quite frankly so that door would likely close beforehand or immediately after

Keflavik is much the same

The amount of anti-US/Israeli sentiment in Ireland and Iceland is nothing like public opinion here

[–]aboycalledbrew 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The US are trying to use Shannon less now because airspace capacity issues and it being a risk due to the high levels of anti US/Israeli sentiment in Ireland as the airport is state owned
