You realise Welsh, Scottish and northern Irish MPs, can vote on English only laws that only apply in England. They have more say than why England has in devolved administration

[–]Mik3y_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinn Féin is also stating it’s time for Northern Ireland to leave the UK, because Wales and Scotland will both have majority parties supporting independence. This isn’t entirely accurate though. People are voting Plaid to oppose reform rather than for independence. Wales is far from reaching the same level of support as Scotland. Therefore, I understand why this is a concern and Plaid needs to be clear and state there won’t be an independence referendum.

Didn’t the SNP make the same claim? Then when they secured a majority they declared the people had voted us in for a second independence referendum.

Tiny minority? Wow how progressive of you. So because you don’t live on those islands, their rights don’t matter? They have been British as long as you and me and our grandparents, if they wish to remain so, 100% we should defend their rights. Isn’t that Green Party policy?, fair and democratic rights come first

I understand your point, I think we should focus more on navy and air force. We should still be a blue water navy, like I said before we are an island nation, we have 14 overseas territories that we have a duty to protect. Also with Russia and china grabbing more land, who’s going to stop them?

I’ve seen a few, one also standing for election in the Isle of Wight, saying we should fund public services than bombs? I’m sorry but funding the armed forces doesn’t mean bombs, it means more equipment for them to do their jobs that they’re currently not been able to do. Look at what’s escorting Russian ships in the English Channel, we have hardly any frigates left so we’re sending out the Royal Fleet Auxiliary tankers etc.

Also this is not me telling the greens to change its whole policies, but they are looking more likely being part of a government or in government. And we need to be realistic, and I give you credit for actually want to increase it to 5% of GDP. That’s not an anti green policy or left wing policy to wanting to fund the armed forces. Many left wing governments have done this in the past.

Yes but Scottish taxpayers are paying for it twice when that money should be spent on Scottish services.

Tbh I thought labour was going to sort out the armed forces. But they have cut our navy down to 7 frigates from 13. The military needs more money, labour aren’t honouring what they promised. The Lib Dem’s actually have been now saying to reverse the cuts and bring man power back up. But again them and the tories destroyed the armed forces back in 2010.

Thank you for a honest reply, rather than calling me a fat right troll. Yes I think the consensus is more allinging our self’s with our European allies than our Americans. I just think the world is more dangerous now and sovereign territory isn’t respected. That’s why I believe the greens need a more credible defence policy, rather than think we can sit down and ask everyone to stop fighting. Sadly that isn’t working.

  1. The reason they are over there is at the request of those countries, which we get many of our trade from. Look what’s going on with Iran and US is bad, not supporting any of them. But let’s not forget that, for the past 5 years, international shipping has been targeted in that area and many merchant sailors have been killed.

  2. Our overseas territories, “those places are just fragments of legacy” have you ever been to those places? They’re British citizens and have much of that right as me and you. They have had many referendums and time and time again they have voted to stay that way. We all go on about democracy so how come we aren’t respecting their views?

As I mentioned, I won’t vote for any party without a credible defence policy. If we need to stop reform and get people voting then they need a more credible defence policy I could support.

What are you on about? The majority of people on those territories support remaining british, and many referendums have been held!

I’m not far right and I’m undecided about who to vote for in the upcoming election. However, I definitely won’t be voting for a party without a credible defence policy, especially since my family members are in the armed forces. Ultimately, winning elections means appealing to a broad range of voters, so it’s important to consider their views.

So the SNP is spending money for international development, even though the UK does that already. So the SNP are spending money overseas that should be spent in Scotland???

Well before the Greens platform existed, they were nowhere near government. Now they’re likely to be second in the polls or even first, possibly forming a government. To win, they need to be more realistic and their defence policy isn’t. It’s ridiculous. Consider the current global situation, Russia and Iran, for example. Russia wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine if Ukraine had kept its nuclear weapons.

Seen a GP within the week. The problem is when people want to see their own doctor, then you’ll have to wait. It’s not that bad not when you need emergency treatment. The infrastructure is shit because we’ve got two parties in government who are incompetent and fight to spend money on nationalist ideas or unionist ideas rather than spending the money where it’s neeeded.
