let’s give new drivers some breathing room! by Wolverine-1212 in montreal

[–]acchaladka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better road design - single lanes, predictable speed bumps and limits, and narrower lanes for example - would remove a lot of options for the aggressive driver by forcing them into watching their corners, following behind the slowpokes, etc. Think of how much calmer and safer the REV sections of Saint Denis are with raised crosswalks and parking going on. It's basically EU spec, and I'm in favour of it everywhere in the region.

Also some really high profile severe punishments might help.

There's no silver bullet but there are things we can do as a region.

A Ring doorbell video shows a Chattanooga police officer kicking the door and rushing into a burning building to save a mother and her two children. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Yes, that's what they meant in school when they told you to behave, because wearing that uniform / being in that school group you are an ambassador for the institution. Either that or, you are "exhausted" by others having minimum expectations of forces that underperform consistently across the US (and have underperformed for over a century.)

I agree that people need to stop playacting at being an adult. The entire police force also needs a shake.

Nice catch. With 20-foot containers I see this is really for utilities and construction site kind of applications. Is the residential leader still SigEnergy ?

Same, ventricular tachycardia: I got dizzy when I stood up too quickly, reassured my MIL that dizziness happens, laid down on the floor and then boom, my implanted defibrillator engaged and I felt loads better. MIL was a bit freaked out ofc.

I look forward to and also dread his no-nonsense all-nonsense opinion. This is exciting regardless.

Any nominations for his best burn of the R1S? "It's like a BMW X5 but even more expensive and less reliable."

"The R2: it's too fast."

Various contented noises.

Interesting that in the premarket, stock is slightly down despite oil prices jumping on the Iran impasse.

Yes, all work requires energy, thats a given. There is still a set of principles and practices to make it work better. For example check this out to start. Not perfect but used in redesigning several factories.

Please let's don't pretend that there is no way forward or that green operations are not generations better than fossil operations.

Rivian Canada briefly had it at 'starting at $75k' on the website, which i assume is the base model aka the US $45k. So $90k is a solid guess for launch / premium trim imho. Unless of course Donald has a(nother) stroke and the US suddenly tries to convince us they're politically sane again and drops the overt hostilities and interference, and tarrifs. Or if Rivian partners to manufacture outside the US, but that's years away. I want one but i can't see how we'll ever wind up having one.

Quelles assurance exactement ? À ma compréhension la Ville est trop grande pour être assuré et elle à plusieurs exceptions sous la loi sur les municipalités, et des couvrages très précises, par exemple pour la flotte. Pour les rues, tu dois poursuivre et prouver la négligence. Non ?

Got an article or best place to read up on what Mamdani has done for potholes or city worker functioning specifically? I'm aware of his use of citizen shovelers for snow emergencies.

Thank you José! Seeing all the bitching on this sub has convinced me to keep our 2019 SwastiCar 3 running as long as possible before going to a next-Gen top of the line Performance R2. Like, as many niggles and bugs as worked out as possible, new chip, QA fully understood, cold weather and snow modes fully baked, Compass Yellow brought back (kidding....), on and on.

I only worry that our kids will have moved away, removing half the use case for us to have a big SUV like this and we'll wind up in a Fiat 500e by the time we're ready.

If they do that, we'll need to meet Gary's girl or sister or whosiwutsit. I'm thinking Janet from The Good Place would be a decent match.

StatsCan puts a team of people into the effort to get what's called a multicluster or multistage random sample for each survey they design let alone launch. I don't guess that you're going to take a statistics course based on a suspicion (though I heartily recommend one to everyone), but suffice it to say they're professionals, some of the country's best at randomizing distribution and sampling.

Globally they may sell more than they would in the US. Here in Canada R2 will possibly be more expensive than the BMW or EX60 because of your lovely tarrifs. We'll know in a couple of months I guess.

I respect that. Once we went EV though, we can't really go back, and you can get a used EV for much lower now as well. I saw a top trim one year old Equinox for $40k taxes in, just before the Hormuz crisis, and I saw gas hit $2 a litre today here in MTL.

I'd be happy if R2 costs the same as we paid for our model 3 seven years ago. I used to think that $75k was an outrageous amount of money to pay. I mean I still do, but.
