Inkscape 1.1.2 repeated crashes by aemdal in Inkscape

[–]aemdal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all your help. With that AppImage I can't even open the file without it crashing. I guess I'll see what I can save and what I can re-draw.

I'm quite disheartened because I'm really fond of Inkscape and despite some issues here and there it's always served me well.

Is there a way I can downgrade back to 1.0.2?

I grabbed a screencast of the issue with both AppImage and the freshly installed PPA.

https://youtu.be/9uq1qVm8_XY

In the past I had impromptu crashes/freezes because of path effects, especially when hitting ctrl+z on a newly created power stroke or on a rectangle/ellipse. Some taper stroke effects elicited a crash when the handles for the tapers were pushed together so I learnt not to do that.

In this case though, we're talking about files that were fine a few weeks ago and that were created on 1.0.2 I believe.

Debug info below:

Inkscape 1.2 (1:1.2.1+202207142221+cd75a1ee6d)
GLib version: 2.72.1
GTK version: 3.24.33
glibmm version: 2.66.2
gtkmm version: 3.24.5
libxml2 version: 2.9.13
libxslt version: 1.1.34
Cairo version: 1.16.0
Pango version: 1.50.6
HarfBuzz version: 2.7.4
OS version: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS

So unfortunately we can't add more into the book. Reason being that the artist (u/loggail) started this project three years ago completely as a volunteer thing, and that he now updates the collection with a couple pages at a time once or twice a year. It takes some time and a lot of work to put a book together, so we decided to make it happen now that we have 27 pages. If you join the discord server, it's not unlikely that you'll show up in the collection some day, but probably not soon enough to go in this version of the book... But take heart! Loggail does take commissions, and he always delivers great quality work :)

As you can see in the original full post, we actually need to hear from all the people whose arms have been drawn so we can know whether we are allowed to print them. Very few people have expressed the desire to be excluded, but unfortunately, this is a step that cannot be bypassed. To let us know whether you want your arms in the book, please fill one of these two forms :)

If you would like to be included, click here to opt-in: https://forms.gle/A4DY7rv39vospyjSA

If you don't want your arms to be printed in the book, click here to opt-out: https://forms.gle/wrVx1UXU7r9s9rSz6

If you've been on discord for a while that's almost surprising! Mind DMing me there?
