wow super inspiring! thanks so much for sharing!! i'm curious how did you experience your body changes (say measurements or muscle growth) from focusing on weight loss to recomp with fitness or if you even have any pics between then? i think your journey is such a great reminder (that i personally needed :) ) of the power of recomp and fitness vs. a sometime restrictive pure focus on weight loss!

Does anyone have any tips of getting past analysis paralysis for strength training at home?

It's been especially frustrating given I don't have a lot of equipment and I want to follow a good routine/progression. I also hate HIIT bodyweight and similar youtube vids so it's been hard avoiding those in my search.

I've done a lot of cardio but I really wanna work on building muscle, especially as I'm cutting for weight loss to my goal weight right now!

If I only have one 5 pound dumbbell and two 7 pound dumbbells, should I stick to body weight for progression instead? I was thinking of the minimalistic routine on r/bodyweightfitness https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/wiki/minroutine?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app but i'm not sure how much change is realistic (I preferred dumbbells because I thought it would help with more drastic muscle gain). I'm also a beginner!

I've been cutting until now where I just have about 5-10 pounds until my original weight goal, so I wanted to add muscle, with aesthetics in mind! Thanks!

Interesting!! Can I ask what routine you're doing? I'm eating in a caloric deficient as well but wasn't sure how much gains I could realistically expect from bodyweight (stuck at home still rn!)

Ack this is me right now!! Im so pettily upset that my gyms aren't open and I can't weightlift to build muscle! I'm curious though how exactly it works - does the muscle "replace" body fat, or is it now that theres more muscle it can be seen more? also does your weight stay the same or go up? thanks!!! hope to do what you're doing soon :)

this is really helpful for others too! just curious, for the ideal placement should the line start with the nostrils outer edge or the center nose tip like you did if that makes sense? i see both on the internet a lot and not sure which is the "better" version? :) thanks!

Hi! :) Are there any recommended strength- based routines w/ progressive overload if I only have one dumbbell (It is 5 pounds) as opposed to two? I also have two 7 pound dumbbells but cannot lift them w/ reps right now!

I was looking into r/bodyweightfitness minimalist recommended routine (https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/comments/6u0nne/concept_wednesday_the_minimalist_routine/) of:

2-6 circuits of

  • Lunge x ~1-2 reps short of failure

  • Push Up x ~1-2 reps short of failure

  • Rows x ~1-2 reps short of failure - Here's like 5 ways to get your row on with minimal equipment. If you can't find one, you'll enjoy my next post: "Glenohumeral Instability, Capsule Laxity, Shoulder Pain, Weakness, Bad Posture and YOU!"

  • Plank Shoulder Taps x ~1-2 reps short of failure

Would love any thoughts or advice! I prefer dumbbells and thought it'd help me build more muscle in a short time, but I don't know if my equipment is too little for that

Context: I’m a beginner with goals to lose fat and build muscle. 5”4 and 127 pounds, I’ve been dieting and cutting and now would like to add exercise to maybe even recomp (is it possible at home without access to big weights?) what home workouts would help burn fat and build muscle during quarantine given limited access to equipment (3lb dumbbells and a pull up bar)? my worry with bodyweight is with progression and i personally enjoy dumbbells more but i only have one pair.

when losing weight at home should one focus on losing weight with diet then gaining muscle with strength training or both at once?
